      Job Description:

      Role Summary

      The equity team is managing large multi-strategy mandates for institutional clients. You will be working with the Global, Emerging Markets and Europe/UK equity teams in the London office, conducting tasks related to portfolio management, manager research and our own internal systems development and maintenance.

      The Graduate Analyst, Equity role is a 12 month FTC.

      The responsibilities of the individual in this position include:

      Regulatory & business conduct

      • Effectively and collaboratively identifying, escalating, mitigating and resolving risk, conduct and compliance.

      Team and Portfolio Management

      • Supporting Portfolio Management (Global and EM funds), Research and other teams as necessary.

      • Supporting all aspects of portfolio management along the investment process, implementation, portfolio rebalances, transition events and daily monitoring of multi strategy portfolios.

      • Running portfolio analysis, attribution reporting, performance analysis, ad-hoc reports, investment commentary and preparation of monthly/quarterly reporting.

      • Working with the investment team to build and improve overall investment process and investment outcomes.

      • Assisting and participating in research projects and modeling development to validate and improve the investment process.

      • Helping with development, maintenance and data quality monitoring of Russell’s inhouse equity analytics system (fund performance attribution and positioning).

      • Liaising with internal technology and development teams to enhance, maintain and develop a scalable and robust data and analytics infrastructure platform.

      • Using programming skills to create new reports (performance, attribution, exposure), automate tasks, introduce quality checks across a group of funds at a high level of detail.

      • Fulfilling ad-hoc requests such as charting and visualising market and fund data, as well as researching information online.

      • Running and interpreting analytical software output.

      • Assisting and participating in research projects and model development to validate and improve the investment process.

      Manager Research

      • Helping the teams assess the people, process, portfolio and performance of investment managers.

      • Participating in quarterly calls and research meetings with external managers.

      • Learning about different investment approaches, industry trends and focal points, such as ESG and Responsible Investing.

      The successful candidate will have extensive demonstrable skills and experiences including the following:

      • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience / qualification preferably in an analytical, science or other quantitative discipline (Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, Finance, Business etc).

      • Good knowledge of the Microsoft Office Programs (especially Excel and PowerPoint) is a must.

      • Bloomberg knowledge is highly preferable.

      • Strong analytical, organisational, interpersonal and communication skills required.

      • Experience in data modelling, data profiling, cleansing and translating data from multiple sources.

      • Strong and demonstrable programming skills and experience would be advantageous (Python, C#, VBA, SQL and similar)

      • Previous relevant work experience a plus.

      • Good presentation skills.

      • Strong communication and listening skills.

      • Knowledge of capital markets, portfolio management strategies, and statistical analysis.

      • Good technical and system skills including advanced proficiency with databases and spreadsheets.
