      Other Conditions: Pending availability of funds for Academic Year 2024-25, renewal dependent upon satisfactory performance, program needs and availability of funds.

      Duties and Responsibilities:

      • Provide editorial and administrative support to the Center for Pacific Islands Studies (CPIS) Publications Manager in the preparation of manuscripts for the journal “The Contemporary Pacific (TPC), the Pacific Islands Monograph Series, and the CPIS Occasional Paper series.

      • Provide administrative support to the TCP journal editor.

      • Help develop and maintain website and social media presence for CPIS publications.

      Minimum Qualifications:

      • Enrolled full-time in a degree-seeking graduate program at the University of Hawai’i at Manoa.

      • Familiarity with the Pacific Islands region beyond Hawai’i.

      • Experience using academic style guides (eg, Chicago, APA, MLA).

      • Experience with successfully carrying out long-term projects.

      • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

      • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

      • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google apps.

      Desirable Qualifications:

      • Skills and experience in academic manuscript editing, indexing publications, tracking workflows, and promoting publications through social media.

      • Significant experience using The Chicago Manual of Style (16th or 17th edition).

      • Strong interest in the academic publications process.

      • Ability to work independently.
