      The focus of the graduate student’s field experience is a blend of observation, discussion, and participation in clinical activities with his or her internship supervisor and the treatment team. This placement is for our inpatient residential treatment facility. Internship hours are available year round. Internship hours are obtained from Monday-Friday between the hours of 8:00am and 4:30pm. We do not have internship placements for evening or weekend hours. We offer placements with both adult and teen populations. You may request a specific population; however, placements are determined by multiple factors and a specific population is not guaranteed.

      Our goal is to support students in their learning experience and therefore, Caron does not allow for students to manage his or her own caseload of patients. An hour of supervision will be provided on a weekly basis or as otherwise agreed upon by Caron and the learning institution.

      PLEASE NOTE - ONLY APPLICANTS WHO ARE CURRENTLY ENROLLED IN AN ACCREDITED EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION WILL BE CONSIDERED FOR PLACEMENT.

      Prerequisites:

      Students who are selected for internships are required to submit the following documents to the Internship Program Coordinator prior to his or her start date:

      1. Affiliation Agreement between “Richard J. Caron Foundation” and your learning institution
      2. PA State Police clearance
      3. Department of Public Welfare ChildLine clearance
      4. FBI Fingerprint based Criminal History Background clearance
      5. Proof of negative TB Test
      6. Proof of Professional Liability Insurance
      7. UDS to be scheduled by Caron

      If your learning institution is providing a General Liability Policy, “Richard J. Caron Foundation” must be listed as an additional insured

      Students are also required to attend a mandatory Internship Orientation to review the following:

      1. Caron’s learning goals and limitations for undergraduate level interns.
      2. Caron Policies which will be reviewed by the Internship Program Coordinator during the At that time interns will indicate an understanding by providing a signature of attestation.
      3. Mandatory trainings interns are required to complete and any additional trainings that are available to interns

      Caron Treatment Centers’ Policies and Standards

      All student interns are bound by the Statement of Organizational Ethics and Code of Conduct Policy of Caron Treatment Centers and therefore must refrain from any type of personal relationships with any patient with whom they have contact both before and after the patient’s treatment. Interns will comply with all standards of confidentiality and will indicate his or her understanding and compliance by signing the Confidentiality of Patient Identifying Information Policy.
