  Roxborough Memorial Hospital is a 131-bed community hospital. The hospital has been serving the medical and health care needs of the Roxborough, Manayunk, East Falls and northwest section of Philadelphia communities for more than a century, having first opened its doors in 1890. Roxborough Memorial Hospitals School of Nursing has been educating nurses since 1898. The hospital is accredited by the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, the nation's oldest and largest hospital accreditation agency.

  Responsibilities

  Graduate Registered Nurses may only practice professional nursing under supervision and if the Graduate Registered Nurse holds a current temporary practice permit. “Supervision” means that a licensed Registered Nurse is physically present in the area or unit where the Graduate Registered Nurse is practicing. Graduate Registered Nurses perform basic duties that include treating patients, educating patients about mental and medical conditions, and providing advice and emotional support to patients’ and/or family members, running therapeutic groups, psychiatric crisis intervention, seclusion and restraint of patients. RNs record patients’ medical histories and symptoms, help to perform diagnostic tests and analyze results, operate medical machinery, administer treatment and medications, and help with patient follow-up and rehabilitation. RNs teach patients and their families how to manage their illness or injury, diet and exercise programs, and self-administration of medication and physical therapy. Other related duties. The Graduate Registered Nurse must take the NCLEX-RN within three months of hiring. The temporary Graduate Nurse Permit will expire immediately upon completion of the NCLEX exam (pass or fail) and the individual will no longer be eligible to work under the Graduate Nurse Permit.

  Qualifications

  EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING 1. Graduate from an accredited nursing program.2. Current Temporary Graduate Nurse Permit.3. Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.4. Working knowledge of Mental Health Laws and practice standards.5. Working knowledge of interdisciplinary treatment team process, behavioral health programming and daily nursing functions for inpatient and outpatient behavioral health units.6. Working knowledge of the continuum of care for behavioral health care.
