Provide academic advice and guidance to prospective graduate students and applicants, which includes current TAMUG undergraduate students.
Help applicants navigate the TAMU graduate admissions process.
Discuss and advise students about career goals in relation to their academic achievement.
Monitors and tracks admissions applications for all College of Marine Sciences and Maritime Studies graduate programs to completion. Communicates with all applicants throughout the admissions process regarding missing credentials, timelines, and admissions decisions.
Co-ordinate with faculty and departmental stakeholders (e.g., Faculty Graduate Admissions committees, Graduate Program Chairs) to process completed graduate student applications for subsequent departmental review.
Facilitate communication regarding graduate admissions decisions between sponsoring faculty, departments, and prospective graduate students.
Provides ad hoc training on TAMU admissions software for faculty.
Maintenance and reporting of admissions-related data
Plan and coordinate events for prospective and admitted graduate students, such as the semi-annual new graduate student orientation at TAMUG.
Plan and coordinate events to teach current TAMUG undergraduate how to plan, prepare, and apply for graduate school.
Facilitate and provide tours or information sessions for prospective students. Creates and gives presentations about the University and our graduate programs to visiting groups.
Attends recruiting events on behalf of the Graduate Studies Office (e.g., Career Fair, Graduation Fair, Aggieland Saturday)
Serve as an advisor for graduate student organizations.
Works with academic departments and Research and Graduate Studies to develop recruitment plans.
Performs other duties as assigned
Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
No experience required.
Experience in admissions or academic advising.
Looking for a well-organized individual that enjoys multi-tasking, attention to the customer service needs in a highly dynamic university environment (potential students, students, faculty and staff) and achieving team goals. Preferred knowledge of Liaison or HALDA but not required. Occasional weekend work for recruiting or campus events (i.e. semi-annual Aggieland Saturday).
Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to support event or activity coordination.
Proficiency in standard office software and technology.

The Graduate Program Coordinator I serves a key role in facilitating a positive academic experience for graduate students by assisting graduate student admissions and recruitment activities, student success activities, and performing general administrative tasks.

Salary Range: $45,000-49,000 annually. Compensation will be commensurate to selected hire’s experience.
