- Parse, clean, and analyze survey data using R.
- Contribute to inferential data analysis and statistical modeling.
- Assist in writing and editing blogs, policy briefs, and reports.
- Respond to survey participant inquiries and liaise with community partner organizations.
- Assist with data collection.
- Assist with other projects as assigned.
- Strong analytical thinking skills.
- Attention to detail, diligence in data checking and error debugging, and ability to clean, organize, and manipulate data effectively.
- Proficiency in using R for data management and analysis.
- Experience conducting quantitative analysis and interpreting socioeconomic or health data.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for contributing to community liaison and reports, blogs, and presentations.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a research environment.
- Knowledge of social and public policy issues affecting Hawaii.
- Interest in survey research, especially on socioeconomic and health issues.

Other Conditions: Under the general supervision of faculty in UHERO, a Graduate Research Assistant is needed. Position is half-time (50%FTE), temporary appointment renewable depending on availability of funds, satisfactory performance, and the needs of the project. In addition to economic students, candidates enrolled in other degree programs, especially other social sciences, data/computer science or health sciences, are encouraged to apply.
