      Summary

      CHS has an exciting opportunity in our Country Operations Division in the Sharon Springs, KS area. We are looking for an associate level Grain Accounting Specialist to join our growing team. The Specialist role includes entering purchase and sales settlements and cutting grain checks to customers or ACH. You will be responsible for balancing transfer and direct shipment tickets for month end and as well as monitoring daily for all locations. In this role, you will work on freight bills, processing direct ship tickets and settlements, monitor and request customer accounts, prepare and manage defer pay contracts, apply from storage and invoice customers for grain they have purchased. You will process feed stock additions and invoices to customers. In addition to these duties, you will address customer concerns, request patronage information, answer the phones and transfer calls to proper personnel. You must be detail oriented with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, have the ability to multi-task, problem solve and work in a fast-paced environment. This role is on premise 5 days per week.

      Responsibilities

      • Address and resolve varied and complex escalated issues.
      • Ensure timely and accurate invoicing and collection of money due to the company, and banking deposits.
      • Maintain accurate and complete client files/filing and make recommendations to improve the quality of invoicing and collection procedures.
      • Monitor processing of invoices and ensure timely payments.
      • Review client documentation to ensure proper systems set up and compliance with correct accounting procedures.
      • Ensure proper recordkeeping of purchases for use in tax preparation and periodic audits.
      • Train and provide guidance to Accounts Receivable/Payable team members; provide assistance as needed.
      • Maintain a process for tracking receipt of data and source documents.
      • Monitor and report on changes in payment standards.
      • Prepare and sort source documents and interpret data to be entered.
      • Contact preparers of source documents to resolve questions, inconsistencies or missing data.
      • Perform data entry in the Accounts Payable/Account Receivable System from source documents, complete necessary coding, confirm accuracy of data, and make necessary corrections.
      • Perform other duties and responsibilities as needed or assigned.

      Minimum Qualifications (required)

      • High School Diploma (or equivalent)
      • Knowledge of Finance, Accounting, and/or AP/AR

      Additional Qualifications

      • Associates degree in Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Economics, Business, Business Administration, or related field
      • Experience using automated financial and accounting systems including Agris
      • Grain experience
      • Proficient in MS Office suite
      • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written Strong attention to detail and organization skills
