- Create visually stunning print and digital designs, incorporating typography, photography, illustrations, design theory best practices with a keen eye for aesthetics and attention to detail to enhance the overall impact and engagement of marketing materials.
- Develop advanced creative designs based on concepts and the target audience that meet client requirements and university brand guidelines.
- Conceptualize and implement multi-platform campaigns that support overall University marketing and strategic goals
- Manage multiple projects within tight deadlines within budget
- Incorporate revisions to achieve the desired creative vision based on feedback
- Stay updated with industry trends and best practices, continuously refining skills, and exploring new techniques to push the boundaries of print and digital design
- Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, communications design, or marketing design.
- Six (6) or more years of professional experience with corporate, agency, or higher education marketing departments.
- Online portfolio showing print and digital design work samples.
- Extensive knowledge of cutting-edge tools of the trade -InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and a hunger to exploit the full range of their capabilities.
- Extensive experience in print and online publications graphics.
- Knowledge of designing in PowerPoint and how to incorporate aesthetically pleasing design in the framework of presentation slides is a plus.
- Experience with project management platforms such as Monday.com is a plus.
- Color correcting photos using Photoshop and advanced knowledge of PowerPoint interactive design is an extra bonus, but not required.

Job Specification InformationJob Posting Number S412NE Position Title Graphic Designer (Hybrid Work Schedule) Class Title Regular or Contingent II Contingent II (more than 6 mos) Desired Start Date 01/29/2024 FLSA Non-Exempt Grade/Range $49,619 - $65,742 Open Date 12/21/2023 Close Date 01/13/2024 Open Until Filled No Duties and Responsibilities As the Graphic Designer for Bowie State University, you will work collaboratively as part of the University Relations and Marketing (URM) team to create concepts for print and digital marketing collateral across multiple platforms including recruitment publications, program books, signage, email marketing, branding campaigns, social media and web graphics and digital displays. Reporting directly to the Assistant Director of Creative Strategy, you will collaborate with a team of graphic designers, photographers, social and digital marketing strategists to conceptualize and deliver a collection of print and digital designs, in support of marketing campaigns and university events.
Top candidates for this position will exhibit outstanding creativity and expert design skills with the ability to effectively schedule and manage multiple projects.
