      Graphic Designer

      Base Rate:

      $20.76

      Performance Pay:

      Available annually

      New hire experience:

      1% of the base hourly rate granted for each year of verified like experience (within ten years) beyond the requirement, up to a ten-year maximum

      New hire education:

      1% of the base hourly rate awarded for an AA or higher degree if not required for the position

      Class/Calendar:

      B22, 12 months

      Hours:

      Full-time (40 hours per week)

      OVERVIEW:

      Successful candidate will use typography and graphic elements using various computer

      applications to produce production ready digital materials.

      QUALIFICATIONS:

      • High School education or equivalent
      • Excellent vocabulary, grammar and spelling skills with accurate attention to detail
      • Commercial experience and formal training preferred
      • Macintosh proficiency and graphic manipulation software to include but not limited
      • to Acrobat, InDesign, PhotoShop, Illustrator and Microsoft Office.
      • Ability to design multi-color work, merging text, graphics and photographs
      • Working knowledge pre-press operations, proofing, job layout and digital output
      • devices.
      • Ability to organize, to prioritize and to meet deadlines with accurate attention to detail
      • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) and to establish and to maintain effective working relationships

      DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

      • Design, format, typeset and accurately proofread pre-press work
      • Select type size and style to enhance the readability of text and image
      • Ensures operation of design equipment and software by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer’s instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; coordinating with supervisor for needed repairs
      • Develop illustrations, logos and layouts using software.
      • Sending approved jobs to outside vendors
      • Maintain and organize project files.
      • Set-up and operate digital presses to run jobs.
      • Assist other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work
      • Help build and maintain the Mesa Public Schools brand.
      • Coordinates with internal teams and supervisors in the design concept phase through completion of a project.
