      GENERAL STATEMENT OF THE FUNCTION

      Work under the supervision of the Creative Services Coordinator. This is skilled work in the preparation of design, layout, and artwork for Hinds Community College. The work involves using techniques best suited to produce desired visual effects in conformance with printing methods specified or types of media being utilized. Must be able to operate programs or equipment to create illustrations, drawings, and printed materials - including the Student Handbook, brochures, catalogs, marketing and recruiting pieces, etc. Must maintain college brand guidelines & standards.

      QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

      EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

      Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; and at least one year related experience and/or training. Must be proficient on the Macintosh computer, using graphic software such as Adobe Creative Suite - InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office, and others. Graduated from a standard four-year high school or equivalent (GED), related education and related experience may be substituted on an equal basis.

      ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES, include the following.

      • Prepares layouts for all college printing jobs.
      • Work with college departments to determine scope of projects and make recommendations.
      • Prepares designs, using selected techniques and rendering details from memory, manufactured products or reference material.
      • Prepares clear, complete and accurate layouts that maintain college brand guidelines & standards. Develop graphics for recruiting and program promotional materials – banners, push cards, displays, etc.
      • Designs type and graphic elements for business cards, letterhead, envelopes, covers, books, brochures, advertisements, posters, programs, forms, maps, reports, etc.
      • Ensures clear, complete and accurate type from draft copy provided.
      • Proficient skills on the Macintosh computer, using graphic software such as Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Microsoft Work, and others.
      • Review designs for errors before printing or publishing them.
      • Acquire quotes and coordinate projects with external vendors.
      • Performs related or similar duties as required or assigned.
      • Maintain knowledge of diversity-related issues, legislation, and best practices.

      • Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less.
      • Ability to adjust focus, identify colors.
      • Ability to give and receive information through speaking and listening skills.
      • While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The incumbent is frequently required to sit; stand, walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or bend. The incumbent is occasionally required to climb or balance.
