Perform general grounds maintenance work.
Set proper mowing heights.
Mow and trim turf grass in various settings and uses on City grounds, fairways, and/or golf greens.
Prune trees, shrubs, and vines.
Aerate turf.
Perform various fertilization techniques using dry and liquid chemicals as directed.
Install and maintain irrigation systems.
Determine and monitor irrigation schedules with remote activated controllers.
Affix and set irrigation heads for proper operation and even distribution.
Plant and maintain trees, shrubs, flowers, and grass.
Dig and prepare grave sites at the cemetery.
Assist with general construction, installation, and maintenance work on buildings, structures, pavilions, and facilities, including plumbing, painting, fencing, excavating, concrete work, and other related tasks.
Assist in installing, monitoring, and maintaining playground equipment, including soft fall surfaces.
Perform general custodial and cleanup of restrooms, pavilions, playgrounds, picnic tables, benches, bleachers, and other facilities.
Prepare athletic fields.
Remove snow and ice, winterize water lines, and perform other seasonal activities.
Set up equipment for special events.
Prepare estimates for landscape projects.
Transport materials and equipment.
Operate and maintain a variety of job-related equipment and tools (heavy and light).
May supervise seasonal and part-time workers.
Assist staff as needed and perform other related duties as required.
A valid, lawful Utah Commercial Driver License (CDL)
An equivalent combination of job-related education and experience may be substituted (one year of post-secondary education/training for six months of experience).
One year of experience in lawn and tree care, general construction, light/heavy equipment operation, or other job-related experience
High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
Utah Pesticide Applicator License
Two years of experience as a Grounds Technician I OR three years of general construction, grounds maintenance, or other job-related experience
Technician II requirements, except
Three years of experience as a Grounds Technician II OR six years of general construction, grounds maintenance, or other job-related experience.

02/20 Provo City is looking for a Grounds Technician to assist in the maintenance, repair, installation, construction, and general upkeep of an assigned area of City grounds or parks.
