      A well-managed Local Government is one of the seven priorities outlined in Auckland Council's Long-Term Plan (LTP) 2024-2034. Group Shared Services (GSS) has been identified as a key strategy to achieve this goal, ensuring consistent, high quality, customer-focussed shared services. Group Shared Services aims to integrate common functions across the council group, eliminating duplication and ensuring consistent, high-quality shared services.


      We have an exciting new opportunity for a Programme Director to help lead the successful implementation of this model and the delivery of quality, customer focussed services. Your mahi will support GSS to plan implementation, establish the operational model, deliver on required service levels, drive efficiencies and ensure mitigants are in place to reduce implementation and delivery risk.

      You will work with the GSS functional leadership team to develop strategic business casing, roadmaps, execution business cases and programmes to support the successful delivery of shared services. You will also connect and collaborate widely with leaders across the Auckland Council Group, and service providers, to build constructive and effective working relationships.

      You will need to have proven and extensive experience in similar roles from large and complex organisations. You will display a strong customer service ethic and a sense of personal ownership and responsibility.

      We are looking for people with deep professional experience in the following areas:

      • leading, directing and delivering complex change projects of high complexity, risk and scale
      • delivery of quality customer services with a focus on efficiency, value and excellence
      • interpersonal and relationship management skills, with a collaborative and engaging approach.
