      About the Role

      As an intern in Group Sustainaiblity, your tasks would involve:

      • Contributing to assessing materiality of sustainability topics and to advancing the Group Sustainability Strategy and its KPIs
      • Supporting the team implementing the strategic ambitions of Advancing the Net-Zero Transition and/or Building Societal Resilience, e.g. co-developing concepts, methodologies and metrics
      • Supporting the development of sustainability capabilities and training across the organization
      • Collaborating and communicating with a broad range of internal stakeholders


      The internship is foreseen to last 6-9 months starting in September 2024.

      About the Team

      At Group Sustainability we enable sustainable and profitable growth for Swiss Re by advancing the Group Sustainability Strategy while empowering the organization's transformation towards delivery of more business and sustainability value. We partner with Business Units and Group Functions to embed sustainability in all aspects of our business and to drive sustainability related initiatives.

      We strive to drive sustainability within our industry, and we quantify and measure our progress. We engage with sustainability partners – including clients, investors, rating agencies and regulators – to identify, assess and steer sustainability topics and to position Swiss Re.

      About You

      Operating in a dynamic world, priorities change over time, the position holder needs to remain versatile and complement the team with an open and solution-oriented mindset and can-do attitude. Your critical thinking and pragmatism support you in approaching complex problems with opposing stakeholder opinions, stepping out of your comfort zone. You are confident in interacting across seniority levels, building up a network with the relevant stakeholders, and ready to go the extra mile.

      • Academic background: Ongoing or completed master's level education in an area of sustainability and/or business (e.g. natural sciences, environmental economics, social sciences, economics/business administration)
      • Professional background: Relevant previous work experience, internship, or volunteering experience (e.g. in private, public sector or civil society organization, etc.)
      • Project management experience incl. writing and presentation skills, in academic, professional and/or public service environments
      • Interdisciplinarity and ability to contribute to multiple projects under tight deadlines
      • Clear communication skills and excellent command of spoken and written English, German is a plus
      • Good to have: Initial understanding of the re/insurance industry, including sustainability-related challenges and opportunities
