Job Description

- Answer questions and provide information to guests in a manner that is welcoming and professional.
- Be attentive to opportunities to be helpful to guests and other employees.
- Manage guest flow in areas where capacities may need to be managed.
- Operate equipment related to parking, admissions, and attractions, testing functionality daily and reporting problems to a Manager as needed.
- Proactively address guest questions or confusion.
- Handle complaints and resolve problems in a manner that is polite, helpful and accurate. Escalate problems to a Manager if unable to resolve the issue.
- Possess knowledge of all admissions, attractions and parking policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate extensive knowledge of the Zoo (directions, locations of amenities, and general animal collection); be able to provide visitors with travel directions to major roadways and other Philadelphia attractions.
- Keep work areas tidy and clean.
- Cheerful disposition and desire to interact with people.
- Ability to work accurately and maintain composure.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with guests, supervisors and co-workers.
- Professional appearance and manner.
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to use and adapt to basic technologies and web-based apps.
- Valid drivers’ license is required to operate the PZ Express Train.
- Valid lifeguard certification may be required for some positions at the Swan Boats.
- Ability to make frequent rounds of the 42-acre Zoo environment.
- Ability to stand and maintain alertness for long periods of time.
- Able to work a flexible schedule, which will include weekends, holidays, evenings and early mornings.
- No allergies to plants or animals that may interfere with ability to work.
- Ability to lift and carry 40 pounds a distance of 25 feet.
- No impairments of sight, smell, hearing, touch, balance, or agility of movement (which cannot be corrected with appropriate devices) that would interfere with ability to work.
- Able to work a flexible schedule. This role will include weekends, holidays, evenings and early mornings.
- Provide a complete Covid Vaccination Record -OR- a medical or religious exemption.

Who We Are Looking For:
A Guest Engagement Team Member who will perform vital functions of the Guest Engagement department, meeting the guests' needs by providing professional hospitality and assistance before, during, and after the guests’ requests are satisfied. This position is dedicated to meeting the needs of any guest in areas across the Zoo including but not limited to, parking areas, entry experience, attractions and online.
