- Operate experiences throughout the campus including the train, conservation carousel, and 4D theater.
- Perform visual inspections of the attractions daily and also complete a track walk and necessary tests to ensure safe operation for guests.
- Complete scheduled cleaning tasks and also ensure attractions are clean and presentable at all times during operation.
- Engage with guests prior to and after the rides to create a memorable experience.
- Provide efficient and accurate collection of tokens or tickets in exchange for entry.
- Provide friendly and courteous service to all guests and departments.
- Create a fun, safe and engaging environment for guests at all attractions and throughout the park.
- Utilize daily checklists to complete start up and shutdown procedures for rides and attractions.
- Constantly evaluate the attractions and surrounding areas for any safety concerns or situations that could impact guest experience.
- Constantly monitor guests participating in attractions and correct any issues (specifically safety) in a courteous manner.
- Effectively communicate with team members and other zoo staff by using platforms including a two- way radio, desk phone and email.
- Gain knowledge of the zoo and our animal collection in order to provide info and engage with guests.
- Assist with the overall upkeep of the zoo by picking up and disposing of trash and debris and reporting any additional upkeep or cleaning needs to the appropriate department.
- Maintain guest and animal collection safety at all times.
- Maintain a professional attitude and appearance.
- Adheres to ride incident/accident reporting procedure.
- Ensure all rides and facilities operate properly, and address/resolve any issues as they arise.
- Ensure all location checklists are done prior to opening and any issues have been either resolved or reported.
- Inspect the department locations through the eyes of the visitor look for safety hazards and ensure that any irregularities are reported for correction.
- Assists the Attractions, Events, Guest Services and Security teams with a variety of projects.
- Assists with snow removal.
- Performs various duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Ability to walk (80 acres) and/or stand up to 8 hours daily in extreme cold and extreme heat.
- Minimum three months in a customer service role.
- Flexible work schedule.
- Friendly, up-beat and approachable.
- Ability to communicate effectively and make safe decisions in noisy, crowded situations.
- Self-motivated and capable of working individually and on a team.
- Willing and available to work diverse schedules, including weekdays, weekend days, and evenings.
- Ability to work dexterously with hands and arms and lift up to 25 pounds, occasionally 50 pounds.
- Ability to work outside for up to 7 hours at a time.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus.
- Enthusiasm and willingness to learn.
- Ability to pass a physical examination, background check and pre-employment drug and alcohol screen.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Willing and available to work diverse schedules, including weekdays, weekend days, and evenings.
- Ability to walk (80 acres) and/or stand up to 7 hours at a time in all weather conditions.

Work Environment
Work is performed on foot; may be exposed to inclement weather (such as cold, rain, snow or heat). Must be able to stand, climb, and walk for extended periods of time. Must be able to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds. May require working overtime, weekends, and rotating shifts on short notice.
Position Conditions
Compensation
Range for this position is $17.78-$20.44 (hourly).
