- Support the tasting room staff with set up, open and closing procedures.
- Uncover all the teak furniture.
- Wipe down all outside tables as needed.
- Open all umbrellas.
- Check and replace any empty propane tanks in the heaters.
- Stock Courtyard Bar with all paper goods (napkins, coasters, tasting notes, maps, etc.)
- Pre-set all tables in the Partners’ Room and Wine Library.
- Assist with pre-pouring wines and water.
- Fill water pitchers so they are ready for morning visitation.
- Fold cloth napkins for Partners’ Room washrooms
- Fold serviettes for tea and champagne service.
- Stock glass washing room with all paper goods (napkins, coasters, tasting notes, tri-folds, etc.)
- Ensure Wine Storage Room (WSR) is neat, tidy and well-stocked with wines, bags, and boxes.
- Ensure the wine storage area behind Courtyard is neat, tidy and well-stocked with wines, bags, and boxes.
- Wash and polish all glassware throughout the day.
- Set up glassware, coasters and napkins for all consumer and trade tastings.
- Break down all tastings when they are finished, including those that take place in the Wine Library and Grand Chai and reset for the next guests.
- Assist in serving breadsticks and culinary pairing to guests.
- Walk the Terrace on a regular basis and remove all glassware left behind by the guests.
- Assist guests with any requests or needs, including but not limited to escorting to the washrooms or Terrace and/or delivering wine to their car.
- Adjust placement of umbrellas and heaters as needed to ensure the guests are comfortable.
- Cover all the teak furniture.
- Ensure all glassware is washed and polished and glass washing room in left in a neat and orderly fashion.
- Turn off dishwashers.
- Empty garbage and recycling into appropriate bin at the end of each day.
- Maintain, update, and expand knowledge of viticulture and enology by participating in educational trainings offered by Opus One and by outside sources.
- Speak knowledgeably about all Opus One representatives, distributors, retailers, and vintages offered for sale at the winery or anywhere in the world, knowing details about Opus One or related merchandise to better assist trade guests with their understanding and appreciation of the wine.
- Other duties may be assigned as needed.
- Two (2) years’ experience working at a winery, wine-related business, hotel, or restaurant.
- Some basic wine knowledge; retail or public relations skills and experience.
- Understanding, desire, and ability to represent Opus One so as best to promote its wines and image.
- Foreign language skills (French, German, Italian, Japanese, Chinese, or Spanish) preferred.
- College degree or college level coursework preferred.
- Knowledge of viticulture, winemaking, wine marketing, and/or wine tasting preferred.
- Follow all company policies and procedures including job safety, safety rules and regulations.
- Assist management to provide safe and healthy working conditions at all times.
- Immediately report all unsafe conditions, work-related accidents, and illnesses to the Safety Manager and your supervisor.

POSITION SUMMARY
Reflecting the spirit, grace, and uncompromised courtesy of the Founders, the Guest Relations Assistant supports the tasting room staff, assists in setup and cleanup of large parties, ensures the tasting rooms are stocked with all necessary glassware, and helps maintain cleanliness in the winery’s public spaces.

COMPENSATION: Base Compensation Range: $16.00-22.00 USD hourly
