- Assist students in the areas of academic, social, behavioral and emotional development; as well as in career awareness
- Provide individual and small group counseling in a variety of settings
- Consult and collaborate with teachers, staff and parents in understanding and meeting the needs of students in the school setting
- Provide in-service training and make presentations to staff
- Make appropriate referrals of students and parents to outside agencies
- Participate in activities that contribute to the effective operation of the school; such as snowflake, etc.
- Seek, establish and facilitate partnerships with various community organizations and other stakeholders
- Experience with PowerSchool (scheduling and reports)
- Eighth (8th) grade activities
- Monitor and advise students of their progress and provide on-going communication with parents
- In collaboration with teachers, parents and staff; prepare students for transition to the next grade level
- Participate in continued professional development and personal growth
- Adhere to ethical standards and best practices of State and National school counselor associates
- Create, coordinate and facilitate the annual job fair with a specific focus on university and college tours for students
- Assist STEM teachers with developing Student Program of Study portfolios
- Knowledge of child development-specifically of physical, emotional and developmental patterns
- Team player with experience working in a collaborative environment
- Ability to listen to and communicate with parents and see parents as a resource
- Possess conflict resolution skills
- Possess positive personal attitude and skills
- Use good organizational skills to meet the needs of the classroom and individual
- Capable of working with small and large classroom groups
- Experience in an elementary school environment

Valid Illinois Professional Educator License
ISBE Certification
Bachelors and Masters in school counseling
