Two (2) years of professional experience in academic advising, or a closely related student support services role. An associate's degree may substitute for 6 months of experience, a bachelor's degree for 12 months, and a master's degree for 18 months.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of college student development and various learning styles.
Strong ability to learn, understand, and explain the academic standards of NHCC and a variety of degree requirements.
Experience working with a diverse student population.
Personal computing/technology skills; working knowledge of Microsoft Office software; experience with and comfort utilizing multiple types of technology to provide advising services.
Bachelor’s degree
Two years of experience working in higher education
Experience creating and developing career and degree plans
Previous experience in career, academic, or financial aid advising
Familiarity with D2L, ISRS, EAB Navigate, and Slate

This position provides assessment, academic, financial, transfer, career and general advising to prospective, new, and current North Hennepin Community College students to assist with academic success, persistence, graduation, and transfer. This position will also focus on veteran students and veteran initiatives collaboratively with Student Affairs and Veterans Affairs to provide holistic support of veteran student success.
Salary Range:
$25.29 - $36.71
