      JOB DESCRIPTION:

      The Guidewire Platform Architect will join CNA as an individual contributor owning the overall technical architecture, implementation patterns and design best practices for the Guidewire platform, including and focusing on Guidewire Cloud Platform. They will be instrumental in aligning or influencing the business strategy for policy administration and claims administration with our technology vision for Guidewire as a platform. The Guidewire Platform Architect will partner closely with the Enterprise Architect for the Underwriting and Claim portfolios as well as the System Architects aligned with Guidewire delivery teams, providing leadership to drive Guidewire solutions and design recommendations that allow CNA to optimize our investment in Guidewire.

      Essential Duties & Responsibilities

      Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines:

      • Accountable for the overall end to end architecture of the Guidewire InsuranceSuite platform, with focus on integrating Guidewire with surrounding and supplemental applications and data services.
      • Responsible for establishing a technology strategy and roadmap for Guidewire in conjunction with Enterprise Architects and business leaders to enable strategic business and technology capabilities, describing the evolution of the Guidewire Platform from current state to future state.
      • Partner with Technology leadership and colleagues (e.g. system architects) to consult on technology solutions, provide governance, oversight and strategic insight to all work in the platform. Identify cross domain/enterprise synergies and impacts. Collaborate with other teams to ensure Guidewire InsuranceSuite integrates seamlessly with other systems and processes.
      • Iteratively assess compliance of Guidewire implementations to platform standards and be accountable for helping CNA optimize TCO for the Guidewire platform.
      • Recommend initiatives to advance platform capabilities and mature/simplify technology footprints as part of the platform roadmap; also identify synergies across enterprise utilization of Guidewire.
      • Maintain comprehensive awareness of Guidewire Cloud product roadmap for InsuranceSuite. Research industry and emerging trends in technology as they relate to underwriting, policy administration and claim administration; advise the organization on ways in which emerging Guidewire capabilities can enhance business capabilities.
      • Own conceptual solution overview including contextual, component, integration/data flow designs and systems impacted in order to solve business problems.
      • Ability to lead and mentor a team of developers working on the Guidewire platform, with the ability and willingness to provide hands-on assistance to POCs and troubleshooting during implementation and delivery cycles.

      May perform additional duties as assigned.

      Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

      • Strategic and innovative leader within a technology organization, passionate about advancing an overall architectural strategy and vision.
      • Experience with Guidewire implementations and architecture is REQUIRED.
      • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of Advance Product Designer, GW Configuration practices (incl. Gosu) and experiencing designing integrations with Guidewire.
      • Experience with Guidewire Cloud Platform implementation a plus.
      • Knowledge of Guidewire Dev/Ops and Testing frameworks is a plus.
      • Guidewire certifications are a plus.
      • Understanding of agile methodologies and application of enterprise architecture principles to the development lifecycle.
      • Ability to design target state solution architectures leveraging modern decoupled, event based, API enabled architecture frameworks.
      • Strong knowledge of contemporary technology and business trends that allows architecture to solve problems in a creative and cost effective manner.
      • Solid understanding of insurance functions and processes, both within the organization and across the industry.
      • Excellent communication and interpersonal and consultative skills to work effectively and build partnerships and relationships across the organization.
      • Complex problem solving skills with the ability to effectively and succinctly articulate an approach and solution for both business and technology partners.
      • Understanding of end to end architecture processes and procedures, including familiarities with EA frameworks (e.g. TOGAF) and SAFE Agile preferred.

      Education & Experience

      • Degree in Business Information Systems, Computer Science or equivalent experience.
      • Typically a minimum of 9 years of solid, diverse work experience in technology including experience with business analysis and solution implementation.
      • Experience leading complex project teams and engaging with senior level business partners.
      • Experience in commercial insurance industry and applicable certifications preferred.
