- Repairs gun components such as slides, barrels and frames.
- Reworks customer returned firearms.
- Repairs small handguns such as the Bobcat & Tomcat models.
- Assists with repair of large frame pistols and shotguns.
- Assesses condition of firearms received for repair or parts replacement.
- Breaks firearm down and make necessary repairs.
- Orders parts; prepare quotes and closes out folders on repaired firearms in system.
- Performs maintenance and cleaning for work area, equipment, tools.
- Interprets a variety of instructions in written, oral or diagram form.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Ability to understand the mechanical function and interaction of the firearm’s working parts.
- Ability to understand the difference and proper use of various ammunitions.
- Must be detail-oriented and safety focused to ensure proper procedures are
followed and repaired products are functioning appropriately. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to comprehend
instructions, policies and procedures as it relates to firearms and
firearms protocols. - Proficiency in operating a computer required; basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite preferred.
- Ability to work with a variety of machines and tools.
- Ability to work overtime or weekends as needed.
- 3+ years experience in servicing and repairing firearms.
- Gunsmith Certification or equivalent combination of education and industry specific
experience/training in firearms repair required. - Frequent use of PPE and other safety equipment as required.
- Manual dexterity to perform intricate repairs.
- Lifting and transporting up to 50 pounds (boxes of guns, equipment, etc.)
- Prolong periods of sitting or standing while repairing firearms.
- Frequent bending and reaching to obtain parts and products.
JOB SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:
The Gunsmith will provide repair or alteration service on firearms in order to comply with manufacturing warranty, customer satisfaction or specifications. Responsibilities involve modifying firearms, occasional part fabrication, heat treating, welding and soldering of parts, barrel replacements and adjusting firearms
for proper head spacing or chambering. Responsible for repair or replacement of various types of stocks and forends, and the recognition of a variety of gun
parts, their stocks, and their interchangeability among various models. This position will be highly supervised as the successful candidate becomes familiar
