      General Function

      The Gymnastics Instructor will be responsible for teaching the three YMCA Gymnastics Recreational–Competitive Classes which are focused on Women’s Artistic Gymnastics [Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced].

      Education/Experience/Training/Certifications

      • At a minimum, a high school degree or equivalent (18+ years of age)
      • 2-3 years of experience in the field of gymnastics through personal participation or instruction
      • Experience training competitive gymnastics preferred; general knowledge of gymnastics required
      • Experience working with or teaching youth gymnastics preferred; interest in learning to work with or teach youth gymnastics required
      • CPR and First Aid certifications must be current within 30 days of hire

      Job Duties & Responsibilities

      • Acts as a positive, self-confident role model for YMCA Gymnastics class participants
      • Maintains a professional demeanor and a safe and effective learning environment appropriate for children at all times
      • Teaches the three YMCA Gymnastics Recreational–Competitive Classes which are focused on Women’s Artistic Gymnastics [Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced]
      • Willing to learn teaching techniques/drills/hand spotting for all the class curriculums
      • Creates and implements lesson plans and rotation schedules for classes
      • Monitor Gymnastics Instructor Aides when in the Gymnastics Center
      • Assists with equipment maintenance, including cleaning and advises Head Coach of equipment needs and repairs
      • Performs other assigned duties as directed by the Supervisor

      Abilities & Skills

      • Ability to move equipment; must have the strength to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 90 pounds
      • Able to observe and evaluate activities from up to 30 yards away in an indoor gym setting
