  Job Description

  We are seeking a dedicated Hazardous Technician to work on-site, with a focus on handling and processing various chemicals, including bio-hazardous materials. The ideal candidate will assist in loading and shipping hazardous waste, inspect storage areas, and respond to emergency situations. This role requires an active 40-hour HAZWOPER certification or a pending 8-hour refresher.

  Responsibilities

  • Process and consolidate various chemicals, including bio-hazardous materials.
  • Assist with loading and shipping hazardous waste, including biological waste.
  • Inspect hazardous waste storage areas and documentation.
  • Label and organize containers in compliance with all regulations.
  • Respond to emergency situations when called upon.
  • Clean dock/facility as directed.
  • Attend and maintain all required training necessary to perform the job.
  • Perform safe work practices involving chemical, radiological, and bioactive agents.
  • Be available to work weekends and extended hours as needed.

  Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in inventory management and hazardous waste handling.
  • Knowledge of bio-hazardous material processing.
  • Strong inspection skills related to hazardous waste storage.
  • Active 40-hour HAZWOPER certification.

  Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Ability to lift, pull, or push up to 50 pounds.
  • Capability to work in all weather conditions.
  • Endurance to stand or sit for long periods.
  • Flexibility to kneel, crawl, twist, or reach.
  • Ability to wear Level B or C PPE for extended periods.
  • Knowledge of hazardous waste and universal waste regulations (40CFR, 49CFR, CCR Title 22).
  • Collaborative work ethic.
  • Clean driving record for 3+ years.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment screening, physical, and drug-screen.
  • High school education or equivalent.
  • Commercial Driver’s License (C or B) with Hazmat and Tanker endorsement (or obtained within six months of hire).
  • Previous experience packaging hazardous materials and waste; DOT and IATA experience is a plus.
  • Previous experience decontaminating items contaminated with chemicals is a plus.
  • Previous experience handling and transporting hazardous materials and waste is a plus.

  Work Environment

  The role involves working on-site with exposure to various chemicals. The technician may need to wear personal protective equipment such as Level B or C PPE for extended periods. The environment requires the ability to work in all weather conditions and maintain a clean and organized workspace.

  Job Type & Location

  This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fremont, California.

  Pay and Benefits

  The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $28.00/hr.
