      The Role Responsibilities

      To provide leadership to Country Corporate Affairs, Brand & Marketing function. Development and implement strategies to build on the Here for good brand promise with clients, community, staff, government and media stakeholders.

      Strategy

      • To strategize, plan, coordinate and implement community sponsorship and donation strategy; media relation strategy; internal and external communication strategy; coordinate crisis management strategy and reinforce the awareness and power of the Brand in the country.
      • To work as an integral part of the team to generate publicity for the business, minimise reputational loss to the Bank, build the Bank’s image and raise its profile at the country level.
      • Develop an understanding of the market opportunities and bring marketing expertise and creativity at both a strategic and tactical level to ensure business objectives are supported and delivered aligned with Group Brand and Marketing strategy and brand guidelines. Development/execution of a holistic marketing programme for the country that can be measured in terms of its contribution to revenue, as well as focuses on delivering a world class client experience across all client touch points.

      Corporate Affairs:

      • Lead and support the Regional Corporate Affairs strategy and planning process, aligning with (and challenging) Group aspirations.
      • Understand and implement corporate, business and internal communications and ensure appropriate training for spokesperson and access to media is controlled.
      • Develop a strategy and country government regulatory relations framework engaging the key government and regulatory officials.
      • Understand the role of Sustainability and environmental conservation in reputation management and establishes, gains buy-in and executes for the Sustainability strategy that CA is responsible for.
      • Responsible for developing and delivering the strategic direction of Community Relations strategies and processes within a Group/ Regional level to ensure continuous improvement, sharing best practices and that the appropriate initiatives are in place.
      • Ownership of the Group Communications Policy in Nepal.
      • Drives compliance with the sponsorship and donations policy in Nepal.
      • Embed the Group’s values and code of conduct in Corporate Affairs to ensure that adherence with the highest standards of ethics and compliance with relevant policies, processes and regulations among employees form part of the culture.

      Brand & Marketing:

      • Be the Brand Champion in the country
      • Develop and integrated marketing calendar to deliver the country business agendas in consultation with stakeholders (CEO, business heads, regional heads)
      • Develop an integrated marketing plan for each campaign and execute it end to end
      • Ensure all marketing campaigns live up to the our brand promise of Here for good.
      • Ensure compliance with global B & M guidelines in tone, manner, look and feel.
      • Leverage Regional Brand & Marketing resources to adopt/adapt existing campaigns whenever possible to save time and cost.
      • Build an integrated approach to leverage sponsorship assets and CSR with Corporate Affairs
      • Manage advertising and media agencies to achieve cost effectiveness and quality output
      • Leverage digital marketing to increase awareness and utilization of digital banking platforms.

      Processes

      • Manage Corporate Affairs budget within limits, with a culture for cost management.
      • Regularly update the marketing calendar to align to business priorities
      • Manage the country brand and marketing budget effectively.

      People & Talent

      • To ensure that staff team members comply with the local and group code of conduct as well as local and global policies and procedures.
      • To ensure team is properly resourced according to budget.
      • To support the development needs of CABM staff team members and to support team members in achieving their Individual Learning Development Plans.

      Risk Management

      • To monitor and identify potential reputational issues, media sentiments and advise senior management;

      Governance

      • Undertake monitoring within the business/activity area. Report to line management on exceptions and risks identified by their compliance monitoring. This includes the following:
      • Assist in cultivating a compliance culture
      • Proactively advise Country Compliance on compliance issues/breaches
      • Comply with Group Compliance Standards and Group Policies, local laws and regulations and Code of Conduct.
      • Ensure that internal controls and procedures are in place.
      • Make prompt report of suspicious transactions or proposed transaction according to the documented process on reporting and/or in compliance with local regulatory requirements.
      • Fully comply with Group Policy and Standards on Money Laundering Prevention or local regulatory requirements for the prevention of money laundering.
      • Overall, be accountable to ensure a satisfactory audit rating is awarded in areas of responsibilities.
      • To treat all official documents, papers and information acquired as confidential.

      Regulatory & Business Conduct

      • Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct.
      • Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
      • Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.
      • Lead the Nepal CABM team to achieve the outcomes set out in the Bank’s Conduct Principles. Fair Outcomes for Clients; Effective Financial Markets; Financial Crime Compliance; The Right Environment.

      • Media, Regulators/ Government Officials, Community partners
      • Third Party Agencies (TBWA, Outreach, Digitalin etc.)
      • Industry partners and alliance partners

      Other Responsibilities

      • Embed Here for good and Group’s brand and values in CABM Nepal;
      • Perform other responsibilities assigned under Group, Country, Business or Functional policies and procedures
      • Represent CABM effectively at country Exco
      • Represent CABM at relevant Group/ Regional forums

      Our Ideal Candidate

      Functional:

      • University degree holder (Master’s degree in relevant field)
      • Corporate Affairs, Brand & Marketing experience in Banking industry preferred but not required for the right candidate
      • Good knowledge of the country/regional markets
      • Strategic minded, creative & clear thinker
      • Self-driven, able to multi task, good at affecting local implementation
      • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
      • Fluent in written and spoken English, Nepali
      • Creative and resourceful
      • Experience in managing advertising and media agencies is an advantage
      • Exposure to strategy development and project management is an advantage

      Personal:

      • Strong strategic acumen coupled with good execution capability
      • Relationship building and influencing- able to build string relationships across internal and external stakeholders.
      • Adept at working across matrix organisation
      • Team leadership- Able to build good bench strength in corporate affairs, brand and marketing functions and provide leadership direction to both teams
