      Job Description Summary:

      The Head, Corporate Strategy & Market Intelligence, will be responsible for ensuring the organization understands the strategic implications of changes to our customers, market, and competitive landscape, and for related strategy development to leverage new opportunities. The role manages the annual strategic planning cycle, in concert with business leaders, provides input into investment and ROI assessments, and develops KPIs for monitoring progress.

      This role is responsible for the synthesis of market and customer-driven insights, competitive intelligence, and market analysis in anticipation of new opportunities and/or changes in the market that could impact strategic plans and growth of business lines/products.

      The role develops market and audience sizing for new product opportunities and business cases, and for providing market context to product and business management in support of those business cases.

      This high-profile role will participate in the organization’s most critical business and growth initiatives and support cross-functional business/product teams by providing analysis and insights to catalyze and support decisions about key product categories, customers, and geographies.

      Job Description:

      As a Head, Corporate Strategy & Market Intelligence you will have the opportunity to:

      • Strategy Development and Planning: Develop and manage the components of short- and long-term strategic planning cycles, in collaboration with SBU leaders, to help the enterprise meet its strategic objectives. Create mechanisms for tracking and reporting on strategic initiatives in collaboration with finance and the ePMO.

      • Market Intelligence Program: Identify enterprise market intelligence needs, develop, and manage budget, and deliver on a strategy and product-aligned market intelligence roadmap and agenda. Responsible for measuring and achieving market intelligence impact and effectiveness goals. Collaborate with the Research and Client Solutions teams, and other SMEs, to optimize use of existing knowledge and research.

      • Market and Competitive Intelligence Reports: Oversee a Market Intelligence function that is strategic, proactive, and facilitates information and intelligence flows between product teams, strategic business units, and voice of the customer teams. This includes the development of mechanisms, tools and technology, and processes for facilitating those flows, including maintaining and populating a market intelligence “hub” and newsletter, and ensuring SBUs and leadership are well-briefed on customer, geographic, product, and other relevant trends in their markets. Synthesize insights, observations, and trends from multiple primary and secondary sources to enhance decision making; anticipate changing trends, opportunities and threats; and develop implications and recommendations for product and business strategies. Understand trends relevant to asset management and EdTech to identify potential opportunities, ways to differentiate our brand, and make threat assessments.

      • SBU Support: Lead market analysis activities to inform strategic evaluations of new market and product opportunities, including market sizing models (TAM, SAM, SOM), industry trend analysis, and strategic and financial analyses. Provide market and audience analyses in support of business cases and collaborate with business and product management on identifying white space.

      • Customer Insights Program: Deliver fact-based customer preference insights, root-cause analysis, and derive actionable customer insights from customer surveys and other tools that inform product demand, development, enhancements, pricing, and related decisions. Collaborate with product managers, client solutions, and other voice of the customer teams in gathering, synthesizing, and disseminating customer feedback and insights.

      • Strategic Research. Lead strategic research projects, often in partnership with Strategic Business Units; structure complex problems, develop hypotheses, develop workplans and convene cross-functional teams to deliver actionable recommendations with measurable impact.

      • Actively promote a culture of intellectual curiosity, and customer- and market-driven decision making, working closely and collaboratively with strategic business units to drive effective business decision making; and facilitating regular internal discussions and communications on competitive, market, and customer research, analysis, trends, and insights.

      • Manage relationships with external data providers, analysts, and consultants as necessary to optimize value for our business and be fully accountable for what they produce.

      • Develop, mentor, and motivate a Corporate Strategy and Market Intelligence team to reach their goals.

      The skills and experience required for this role are:

      • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA strongly preferred.

      • 10+ years' experience in strategy, management consulting, and/or corporate development role developing growth strategies and identifying product opportunities and/or new markets. Knowledge of/experience in investment management or EdTech industries preferred.

      • Analytical curiosity and ability to flex between big picture thinking and sharp attention to detail.

      • Strong business acumen and able to translate insights into business action.

      • Excellent interpersonal skills and executive-level presence

      • Global cultural orientation and work experience

      • Experience with research methodologies, tools, technologies, data sources, and vendors.

      • Fluency in English required, knowledge of additional language(s) is preferred.

      CFA Institute salary ranges will vary by geographical location. This role is being posted nationally/internationally and does not have to be performed in New York City. In compliance with the New York City salary disclosure law, the anticipated base salary for this role in New York City will range between $200,500 and $334,100. Salaries are determined based on candidate relevant experience and skills, as well as internal equity.
