      Overview

      The Head Golf Professional’s role at Terranea Resort is an opportunity for a progressive, energetic PGA professional to be integrally involved in the operation and group sales of a 9-hole par-3 golf course within the only oceanfront destination resort in Los Angeles. This key leadership role will play an integral part in the overall success of our golf operations at the resort. The Head Golf Professional will be responsible for overseeing staffing, scheduling, tournament ang group golf operations, and instruction to ensure an exceptional golf experience for our guests. In addition to the 9-holes, a short-game practice area comprised of a large putting green and separate chipping green, and a 3 golf simulator studios will provide an ideal environment for short game lessons and clinics. The golf department will work closely with all departments to ensure an excellent guest experience.

      Responsibilities

      • Golf Operations
        • Oversee the golf shop operations, including merchandising, inventory control, and sales.
        • Recruit, train, and manage a team of golf professionals, and golf operations personnel.
        • Develop and implement effective scheduling strategies to optimize operational efficiency and guest satisfaction.
        • Coaches direct reports in a timely manner to ensure work is up to departmental and Terranea standards.
        • Foster a guest centric culture among golf staff, ensuring exceptional service and a positive experience for all guests.
        • Encourage a fun and engaged work environment for golf associates; focusing on professional development and work life balance.
      • Group and Tournament Operations
        • Plan, contract, coordinate, and execute Terranea branded tournaments from inception to post-event process
        • Plan and participate in site tours
        • Collaborate with the conference services and sales team to ensure seamless integration to golf activities with overall resort events
        • Communicate with clients in events in a timely manner while on scheduled shifts and at times while on non-scheduled shifts as business levels determine
        • Implement and oversee training initiatives relating to tournament and group golf operations.
      • Golf Instructor
        • Develop and implement group clinics and workshops.
        • Oversee golf instruction for players of all skill levels, focusing on new and innovative lesson programming.
        • Provide personalized instruction and guidance to enhance the golf skills of resort guests and members.

      Additional Duties & Responsibilities:

      • Maintain Golf House Organization and Systems Maintenance
      • Manage Golf Steward and Retail Assistant staff.
      • Greet Guests.
      • Reserve Starting Time.
      • Process Group Requests.
      • Maintain Tee Sheet.
      • Check Players In.
      • Maintain knowledge of Fees.
      • Explain equipment Rental Agreement.
      • Schedule Golf Lessons.
      • Maintain proper operation of Point of Sale System and Reservations System
      • Process Payments.
      • Process: Cash, Room Charge, Credit Card, Check, Travelers Check, Gift Certificate, Golf Group Payments, and other promotional items.
      • Issue Gift Certificates.
      • Process Employee Discounts and Purchases.
      • Process and validate Coupons
      • Participate and assist in managing monthly inventory counts

      Qualifications

      • 3 years’ experience tournament sales and operations
      • Demonstrated experience and capability in staff management. Retailing, marketing, and/or sales and customer service, guest relations experience required
      • Proficiency with computer software including word processing, spreadsheet/financial, basic graphics programs, golf tournament software, and POS programs.
      • Demonstrated quality written, verbal, interpersonal communication skills.
      • Ability to analyze and solve problems; efficiently handle multiple duties under pressure with minimal supervision; work flexible hours as required including nights/weekends.
      • Positive attitude, professional manner and appearance in all situations
      • Knowledge of teaching all aspects of the game.
      • Is a competent, confident and hands-on leader with a strong inclination for outstanding service and operational performance; leads by example.
      • Attentive to key department metrics and able to implement plan adjustments swiftly and decisively.
      • Exhibits a strong understanding of technology and systems for the benefit of both departmental performance and the overall guest experience.
      • Focused on creating innovative events and welcoming all players to the game of golf.

      Experience, Education, & Licensure:

      • BA / BS degree, preferred.
      • PGA Class A Member

      Compensation

      Base Pay Start Rate: $66,560 - $75,000/ Yr. + Commission
