      This position oversees a team that originates, structures, and executes ILS transactions for insurers, governments, and corporate clients as well as for Swiss Re. You will lead interdisciplinary teams (investment bankers, risk modelers, legal firms, and operations) on projects and transactions as well as foster talent and manage a team of ILS Structuring experts based in New York.

      The role has the following key deliverables:

      • Responsible for defining and maintaining a compelling and clear business strategy & vision which supports and enables our ambitions in terms of growth and innovation
      • Review and refine our origination approach, working closely with Client Markets to integrate capital and risk considerations for our key clients
      • Develop and deliver new ILS risk transfer solutions, product innovation and lead strategic initiatives and deal teams
      • Close collaboration with the Head ILS Sales, the Head ILS Structuring APAC & EMEA and the Head P&C Retro Structuring
      • Member of the Leadership Team of the Alternative Capital Partners division

      About the Team

      We offer the rare opportunity to lead the regional New York team in charge of Swiss Re's ILS Structuring activities in the Americas. We are a diverse and very motivated team committed to thrive and succeed in the task of advancing our leading ILS market presence. We are responsible for all aspects of ILS structuring from origination to closing and ongoing transaction management.

      You bring strategic thinking, leadership, technical and execution skills and are comfortable working in an area that is fluid and dynamic! Your strong communication and interpersonal skills enable you to excel when presenting ideas and engage with senior leaders and external partners. You are both a leader and a great teammate with staying power, operational readiness, and a passion to perform.

      Additional requirements:

      • Bachelor's degree with emphasis in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Finance, Economics or similar analytical discipline
      • Seasoned capital markets or reinsurance professional with a minimum of 5-years of experience in ILS, having directly originated and led ILS transactions with external clients
      • Broad strategic thinker with an open mind for innovation and strong focus on execution
      • Deep understanding of reinsurance markets and of the capital and risk drivers within (re)insurers and corporations' balance sheets
      • Ability to motivate, guide and manage a team of experts and lead and conclude complex projects, transactions and initiatives in time
      • Direct management experience or success in managing expert project teams
      • Strong knowledge of reinsurance products and markets as well as capital and risk drivers within a (re)insurer's balance sheet
      • Strong sales and negotiation acumen
      • Operates with ease in a rapidly developing business environment with strong ability to adapt to new circumstances with ease and speed
      • Fluent in English

      About Alternative Capital Partners ("ACP")

      ACP is a division of Swiss Re formed in 2019 by combining existing Alternative Capital functions - Retro, Insurance Linked Securities ("ILS") and Portfolio Management – into a single team reporting to the Group CFO.       About Swiss Re Capital Markets

      ACP operates its global ILS activities under regional broker dealers and the ILS Structuring Americas team sits within Swiss Re Capital Markets Corp. ("SRCM") in New York. SRCM is a leading broker-dealer in the structuring, placement, and secondary trading of ILS in the capital markets. ILS includes catastrophe bonds, sidecars, synthetic solutions and many other securitization and derivative products. SRCM provides risk hedging and financing needs to a variety of clients, including re/insurers, governments, and corporations, with expertise in both the property & casualty and life & health sectors. Risks transferred in ILS transactions can range from natural disasters and pandemic diseases to cyber risk or terror events. Since the market’s inception, SRCM has structured and syndicated more than $45 billion in ILS instruments.

      For New York City the estimated base salary range for this position is $240,000 to $360,000. The specific salary offered for this or any given role will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to job location, scope of role, qualifications, complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent, experience, education, and employer budget. At Swiss Re, we take a "total compensation approach" when making compensation decisions. This means that we consider all components of compensation in their totality (such as base pay, short-and long-term incentives, and benefits offered), in setting individual compensation.
