- Oversee all GIS accounting and reporting, including board reporting for the following investment/ asset management or other non-insurance subsidiaries:
- Guardian Investor Services (GIS) – parent of Guardian’s asset management and non-insurance businesses
- Park Avenue Institutional Advisers (PAIA) – registered investment adviser
- Hanover Square Real Estate Management – real estate joint ventures
- Guardian Strategic Ventures – private equity investments
- Guardian Membership – non-insurance focused on well being benefits
- Hudson Kettle – Third party (HPS managed) CLO’s
- Act as Principal Financial officer on Form ADV filed with the SEC and state securities authorities for Park Avenue Institutional Advisers (PAIA) on all investment activities.
- Participate in the Corporate Finance Operational Risk group with a focus on GIS activities including preparation and maintenance of a quarterly risk self-assessment.
- Act in capacity of Guardian Variable Products Trust (GVPT) Treasurer and Principal Financial Officer. In that capacity you will fully own and manage:
- SOX certification signer to SEC
- Financial reporting including annual/semi-annual shareholder reports and SEC N-Port (holdings and liquidity) and N-CEN
- Oversight of daily valuation and NAV production for 24 mutual funds
- Operational leadership of GVPT cross functional team
- Signing authority on all agreements on behalf of GVPT and PAIA with vendors and sub-advisers
- Lead on all financial info included in 15c contract renewal with independent board of trustees
- Lead on all management and sub-advisory fee and expense rate decisions
- Project managing Variable insurance Trust (VIT) fund substitutions (cash and in-kind transactions)
- Business owner for Third Party Risk Oversight of the following entities: Capital Institutional Services, INC. (CAPIS) transition management on sub-adviser changes and substitutions; Computershare (Proxy Voting); Robbins Geller Rudman & Dowd LLP (Professional Services) Class action processing; State Street Bank and Trust Company (SSB) custodian and administrator for GVPT
- Lead the Fair Valuation Committee (SEC Rule 2a5) (daily and monthly meetings and quarterly report to board) through valuation determinations of securities, the evaluation process used in the determination and any impact to the funds. This includes evaluating security pricing source vendors, back testing of valuations and assessing risks.
- In the capacity of a member, be an active participant in the Liquidity Risk Management Committee (monthly meetings and quarterly report to board) and the Derivative Risk Management Committee (SEC Rule 18f) (quarterly meetings and quarterly/annual report to board). Both committees are internal to Guardian in its oversight role of the mutual funds and requires knowledge of the liquidity profiles of the various investment asset types and derivatives risk utilized in the portfolios to manage rate and duration risk.
- Coordinate Insurance coverage for GVPT and PAIA (E&O and D&O and Fidelity Bond) with Marsh, our third-party partner.
- Report quarterly to Board under SEC Rule 12b-1
- Maintain regular communications and report on progress and accomplishments to the Controller and CFO
- Identify best practices and create policies and procedures to ensure consistent operations and controls.
- Present the status of initiatives, issues, and new items to applicable working groups, forums, and committees as necessary.
- Lead or assist, when needed, in organizing cross functional projects
- Manage a team of about five accounting professionals
- 15-20 years of experience in an Asset Management Accounting role, with at least 5 in a leadership role; Mutual Fund Treasurer experience preferred
- CPA preferred
- MBA or other graduate degree preferred
- Familiarity with SEC 1940 Act regulation
- Strong project management skills with ability to coordinate partners across multiple organizations
- Strong organizational skills; ability to work independently and manage deadlines
- Ability to run complex tasks and deploy collaborative and analytical approaches
- Ability to multi-task, managing various tasks and deliverables with simultaneous deadlines
- Proven ability to build effective relationships
- Flexibility and quick adaptation to changing priorities, methodologies, processes, and systems

Job DescriptionHead of Asset Management Accounting & Mutual Fund Treasurer
The position of Head of Asset Management Accounting & Mutual Fund Treasurer holds a dual role, as the lead financial officer for Guardian Investor Services (GIS) and as Treasurer of Guardian’s proprietary mutual funds. GIS is a direct wholly owned subsidiary of Guardian Life primarily focusing on non-insurance investment related activities and consists of numerous subsidiaries focusing individually on specific investment opportunities for Guardian. This role, as a member of the Guardian’s Controllership leadership team, has responsibility for associated projects around the oversight focus areas and manages a team of accounting professionals.
Detail GIS activities:
The position of Head of Asset Management Accounting, working across investment and asset management businesses within GIS, will focus on the financial health/performance of these businesses; provide value added insights to support the execution of their strategies with sound financial plans developed in conjunction with business plans produced by the various business leaders; ensure that communications and regulatory filings with external parties are completed and in a timely manner; will also represent Guardian to key external stakeholders in internal and external forums.
Detail GVPT activities:
The position of Treasurer of Guardian Variable Products Trust (GVPT) will work closely with the independent Board of Trustees to provide management leadership over all activities of the mutual funds; lead a cross functional team (finance, law, compliance, and funds management) to effectively operate the mutual funds; Oversight of all financial activities of the mutual funds including regulatory reporting and making key decisions regarding funds.
This role will report directly to the Corporate Controller, who reports to the Chief Financial officer.

Salary Range
$146,060.00 - $239,952.50The salary range reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate. In addition to salary, this role may also be eligible for annual, sales, or other incentive compensation.
