      The post holder will lead on all aspects of strategic planning in relation to ensuring that the Manchester City football methodology is embedded in the technical and tactical football programme for players from 15 to 21+ years of age.

      The post holder will sit on the Academy Management Team and will work collaboratively with the other Heads of Coaching (HoC U6s – U11s & HoC U12s – U15s) to implement and develop the MCFC football methodology.

      The Head of Coaching (U16s – EDS) will develop the programme to prepare academy players for the future game. The post holder will also be responsible for the continual professional development of the lead coaches and the assistant coaches in the relevant age groups.

      Your Impact

      1. To lead and manage lead coaches and assistant coaches for the U16s, U18s & U21s, with the responsibility for the implementation and development of the MCFC football methodology for these age groups. Ensuring that the Manchester City playing style is embedded throughout the training sessions and the games programme.

      1. Collaborate and work closely with the Heads of Coaching (Head of Coaching U12s – U15s & Head of Individual and Player Development to plan and implement a co-ordinated approach to player development across the Professional Development Phases through the development of the on pitch football curriculum.

      1. To work collaboratively with other key stakeholders internally (Director of Performance, Director of Operations and Development, Head of Performance Analysis, Head of Physical Performance, Head of Performance Lifestyle and Player Support, Head of Education, Head of Phase Operations, Senior Phase Operations Manager and Head of Academy Recruitment) to maximise player development.

      1. Work with the Academy Director, Head of Individualisation and Player Development & Head of Coaching U12s – U15s to maximise the schedule and ensure the academy football programme delivers the technical position specific skills required for players at Manchester City FC.

      1. Implement a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programme for the coaches and lead coaches in the for the U16s, U18s and U21s and to work alongside the other Heads of Coaching to develop an Academy wide CPD coaching programme.

      1. Implement and evolve the MCFC player development model ensuring that individual development is tracked and monitored in between the What Counts meeting cycle.

      1. To ensure all staff within the department consistently live the academy standards and behaviours, ensuring that staff and players meet these standards both on and off the pitch.

      1. To liaise with parents/carers and player representatives of players on a regular basis to discuss player progress, player pathway and raise concerns when appropriate. Supporting with the retain and release process as required.

      1. To liaise with the recruitment department and the Academy Director to consider player pathways, player recruitment and transitions for players in these age groups.


      What we are looking for

      Essential

      • UEFA A Licence
      • Advanced FA Youth Award
      • Emergency First Aid in Football (EFAiF)
      • Extensive knowledge of football in terms of tactics, performance, and player development.
      • Proven experience delivering successful team performances in elite sport.
      • Experience of working in an Academy environment with elite youth talent.

      Desirable

      • Demonstrable experience in line management and coach development.
      • UEFA Pro-Licence
