- People leadership & development of best commercial practice – for both office-based Commercial Operations team and field-based Commercial Managers
- Ensure all SOPs are followed for quotes and tender submissions & update SOPs as and when new processes and tools are adopted
- Build trust-based, collaborative, sustainable relationships with managers and customer groups, to include strong working relationships cross divisionally at all levels within Abbott
- Consult with key internal stakeholders to identify and assess commercial needs and identify opportunities for improving sales and commercial performance
- Build key non-clinical relationships across the UK Health Service, including NHS England and key Operating Model stake holders, in order to support & influence commercial outcomes
- Gain greater understanding of local constraints and build commercial solutions to capitalise on the opportunities identified
- Monitor contract compliance on a quarterly basis and advise senior leadership team on rectifying actions where applicable
- Undertake customer meetings and tender de-briefs as required, leading any resulting actions and activities
- Drive discussion around market share to maximise and support the achievement of Abbott’s business strategies and identify cross-divisional opportunities, threats & barriers
- Pre-Plan Price & Service Offering for tender and contract solutions and support UK pricing strategy
- Ensure full project management for each Tender and Quote to ensure timely, effective submissions
- Lead the commercial, sales and marketing teams to drive a timely response & profitable pricing submission
- Maintain up to date knowledge of the UK Healthcare market, to include competitor activity and look for continuous improvement within the commercial functions
- Experience in a sales or commercial role dealing with UK tenders within medical devices
- Leadership capability and a demonstrated ability to build consultative, collaborative relationships with managers and co-workers at all levels
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent analysis and decision making skills
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and influencing skills, a strong voice, able to contribute to a senior leadership team
- Experience of UK commercial and contract law to assess and challenge NHS tender terms and conditions
- Demonstrate the authority, confidence and intelligence required to deal directly with each customer group on general matters relating to tenders & quotes
- Excellent general computer skills, to include expert use of Microsoft Excel and a working knowledge of SAP

We are recruiting for a fantastic senior leadership role supporting our complex medical devices businesses. The Head of Commercial role has two critical parts: the management of the Abbott Medical Commercial Operations team that supports commercial activities such as quotes, tenders, price match etc. as well as the management of all field based Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) Commercial Managers and supporting commercial strategy. You will also sit on the UK & Ireland CRM Management Team.
