      About this opportunity

The Commercial Division for Lloyds Banking Group serves more than one million UK businesses and brings to life our purpose to help Britain prosper. Our customers range from the largest multi-national corporations and financial institutions to kitchen-table start-ups, and their stories are as diverse and fascinating as their businesses.

We're looking for a Head of Communications to join Group Corporate Affairs, to be a lead communications partner to businesses and teams across the Commercial division. You'll set out and guide our communications activity, help to tell compelling stories and provide critical reputational counsel across a diverse and dynamic range of Commercial teams.

You’ll be a deft communicator who can burnish our reputation on major themes such as inclusivity, sustainability, entrepreneurship and housing, with stakeholders ranging from local government to national media. You’ll be seen as a senior ‘go-to’ for colleagues across both of our Commercial business units: Business & Commercial Banking and Corporate & Institutional Banking. You’ll also be trusted as a safe pair of hands on sensitive issues, as well as a creative thinker able to devise new ways to express ourselves in a way that can cut through with sometimes cynical audiences.

We expect you to use your considerable experience, expertise and insight into our audiences, to enable and inspire our internal and external communications teams and PR agencies, to create and execute communications projects and campaigns, to support our company purpose, promote our business and engage our employees.

Plus as a senior leader in Group Corporate Affairs, you'll role-model our values and play a meaningful role in the management and development of the people you work with. And you'll bring together disparate teams for shared goals such as business, marketing and communications teams.

As our Head of Communication, you'll:

      • Advance the reputation of Lloyds Banking Group as the bank that helps Britain prosper through innovative, integrated and creative communications plans that evidence effective storytelling and build pride in the Group.

      • Own and deliver an integrated communications strategy which will support Corporate & Institutional Banking and Business & Commercial Banking

      • Provide informed, professional and strategic counsel on issues that affect reputation, anticipating complex issues, challenges and opportunities and delivering solutions.

      • Be a great partner to senior leaders, while working with expert channels (such as media, social media, public affairs and internal comms) and business support functions (such as HR, marketing) to deliver outstanding communications activity.

      • Be a fantastic coach and mentor for others in the team and throughout the organisation, investing in your own personal development.

      Why Lloyds Banking Group

If you think all banks are the same, you’d be wrong. We’re an innovative, fast-changing business that’s shaping finance as a force for good. A bank that’s empowering its people to innovate, explore possibilities and grow with purpose.

      What you’ll need:

You'll need to be a confident senior leader with the gravitas, credibility and influence, to reach and engage your audience - when you talk, people listen! Plus you'll:

      • Have a solid track record of business partnering, with the ability to advise and influence senior and exec leadership teams.

      • Have considerable and proven experience in developing and delivering effective internal and external communications strategies, to support company purpose, promote the business and engage colleagues.

      • Have a strong commercial understanding that can be applied to financial services, having cultivated your talent for communication in a similarly large, regulated and complex industry

      • Be accomplished at delivering Financial Communications (e.g. investor relations, quarterly reporting)

And this would be really useful:

Ideally you'll have a Financial Services industry background.

And it’s why we especially welcome applications from under-represented groups.

We’re disability confident. So if you’d like reasonable adjustments to be made to our recruitment processes, just let us know.

We also offer a wide-ranging benefits package, which includes:

      • A generous pension contribution of up to 15%

      • An annual bonus award, subject to Group performance

      • Share schemes including free shares

      • Benefits you can adapt to your lifestyle, such as discounted shopping

      • 30 days’ holiday, with bank holidays on top

      • A range of wellbeing initiatives and generous parental leave policies
