- Effective management of global team - establishing direction, advancing function and organizational growth and progression, building upon strong system of internal governance and controls and establishing and utilizing well-organized processes to manage business and solve problems
- Proactively identify and prioritize emerging regulatory policy issues from U.S. and global regulators and policymakers which would affect the firm, its clients, and the economy, create strategies to influence policy development, and advise internal partners in preparing for policy changes
- Coordinate with corporate and business partners the development of regulatory policy positions across lines of business and globally to ensure consistency of firm views across jurisdictions
- Manage relationships with US Regulators and policymakers including at Treasury, Federal Reserve, FDIC, and the OCC, and prepare senior executives and firm-wide partners for high-profile meetings
- Manage relationships with global standard setters such as the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision, the Financial Stability Board and other international bodies
- Oversee and execute effective communication of JPMC’s regulatory policy positions through a variety of channels (written responses, bilateral meetings with policymakers, trade associations, legislators, etc.)
- Coordinate closely with other Global Government Relations and Corporate Responsibility functions and lines of business to ensure issues, messaging and outreach align with the firm’s business goals
- 15+ years of relevant policy and/or government experience in a senior leadership role, with a deep understanding of regulatory policy and government
- Extensive policy experience, with specific skills in absorbing complex concepts, devising a strategic response, and communicating to audiences with different levels of knowledge
- Proven management skills, with experience managing managers and managing complex teams
- Proven leadership and partnership skills with track record of building effective partnerships in roles of cross organizational responsibility
- Excellent relationship and collaboration skills; consensus-builder coupled with willingness to take an independent stand and offer constructive criticism when appropriate
- Superior organizational and motivational skills, strategic, communication and tactical excellence
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong preference for corporate, legal, government or trade association experience
- Expert knowledge of prudential, market and consumer regulations strongly preferred
- Significant experience in presenting to Executive Teams and Advisory Boards highly desirable
JP Morgan Chase is currently seeking a Managing Director (MD) to serve as the Head of Global Regulatory Affairs, reporting to the Head of Global Government Relations and serving on the Global Government Relations senior team. The role is based in Washington, D.C. Global Regulatory Affairs is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive regulatory strategy on behalf of JPMorgan Chase. This includes engaging in balanced advocacy with regulators and policymakers, understanding and providing thought leadership on how policies affect the firm’s clients and economic growth overall, and governing internal coordination among regions and lines of business on global regulatory reform issues.
Regulatory Affairs’ enterprise-wide approach includes close partnership with Executive Management, Legal, Finance, Compliance, and Risk teams. Regulatory Affairs is fully engaged with lawmakers and regulators around the globe, and participates in dialogues as policies, laws and regulations are formed.
JPMorgan Chase’s Global Government Relations (GR) team engages with policymakers around the globe and represents the firm before federal, state and local governments and regulatory agencies in the United States. GR focuses on legislative and regulatory issues impacting the firm, supporting business development with government clients and promoting the firm as a responsible corporate citizen, among other work.
Regulatory Affairs is housed within Global Government Relations.
