      THE POSITION
      Wellington has been investing in alternative investments since 1994. Today, we manage approximately $34B in alternative assets across long/short equities, macro, multi-strategy, long/short credit, and private equity. Strategic expansion in our hedge fund business is focused on three main platforms: Multi-Strategy, Macro, and Thematic/Sector. As part of this continued expansion, we are seeking to recruit a Head of Hedge Funds, Investor Relations to join our Alternatives Leadership team and drive our commercial strategy.

      INVESTOR RELATIONS
      Investor Relations is part of our Client Platform at Wellington Management Company. The function, at a high-level, is responsible for bringing together client, product and fund expertise within Hedge Funds and Private Investments to ensure maximum focus on the strategic growth initiatives for the firm.

      The Head of Hedge Funds, Investor Relations, will work in partnership with the Investment Leadership team to develop and expand our Hedge Funds business and take ownership for the design and execution of our 'go to market' strategy.

      RESPONSIBILITIES
      This is a firm leadership role with reporting to the leaders of the Hedge Funds business on the Client and Investment Platforms and management responsibility for our global specialist Hedge Fund product, sales and fund teams. They will also direct our marketing, client servicing and legal efforts for the Hedge Fund business, working with dedicated experts embedded in those groups, as well as partnering with our generalist Business Development, Relationship Management and Consultant Relations teams to ensure we are accessing our global client base in the most effective way possible.

      This leader will need to create strong commercial focus and tactical muscle within their direct reporting lines, and across the broader firm, to ensure we maximize our growth opportunities, achieve operational excellence for our clients and maintaining the highest fiduciary standards. The successful candidate will have exceptional skills in business judgement, asset raising, marketing strategy, communication, and an established network in the Hedge Fund asset class. This position may be based in any one of our global offices, including New York. London or Boston. Key responsibilities include:

      • Work in partnership with the Alternatives Investment Leadership team to define and evolve our Hedge Fund business
      • Develop and own the execution of the Hedge Fund distribution strategy, including how to differentiate and position strategies relative to those of competitors and identify opportunities to develop new and innovative Hedge Fund investment strategies
      • Ensure the operating model works efficiently across the distribution lifecycle and work with key stakeholders to put the right infrastructure in place to support future growth
      • Have the ability to engage with clients, prospects and consultants and effectively communicate the investment philosophy, capabilities and performance of our Hedge Fund Business
      • Lead, manage, and mentor a diverse team of professionals creating a team that becomes a destination of choice for world class Investor Relations professionals
      • Successfully balance commercial success without compromising our fiduciary responsibility to our clients or the integrity of our investment processes

      ESSENTIAL SKILLS
      This is a senior leadership role in a fast growing and evolving business that requires the ability to think strategically, drive commercial success, apply sound business judgement, collaborate effectively across different groups of stakeholders and lead high performing teams.

      The ideal candidate will also possess the following qualifications:
      • Demonstrable (likely 15+ years) relevant professional experience in leading Hedge Fund client facing teams
      • Proven experience developing a commercial strategy and successfully raising assets in the alternatives space
      • In depth understanding of the needs of a broad range of clients across institutional channels, including corporates, public pensions, and endowments and foundations. Solid understanding of the wealth channel is preferred
      • Outstanding collaboration and teamwork skills; able to work successfully and build trust with very experienced, passionate people, and with multiple functions across the globe
      • Proven experience of attracting, retaining, developing and motivating talent and fostering diverse and inclusive teams, oriented towards coaching, mentoring and delivering feedback, outstanding leadership and management skills; ability to manage remote individuals/teams,
      • Highly organized, able to multitask, prioritize and complete multiple projects simultaneously; focused on results and willing to roll up their sleeves to get things done
      • Initiative, creativity, persistence, and consultative skills are particularly important in this role

      At Wellington Management, our approach to compensation is designed to help us attract, inspire and retain the best talent in our industry. We strive to pay employees fairly and competitively across all levels and roles. Our approach to compensation considers all aspects of total compensation; all employees are eligible to receive salary, variable compensation, and benefits. The base salary range for this position is:

      USD 100,000 - 225,000

      This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered when making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets; role; skills and experience; certifications; and education. This range is an estimate, and further details on salary and total compensation aspects will be shared with candidates during the recruitment process.

      Base salary is only one component of Wellington’s total compensation approach. Other rewards may include a discretionary Corporate Bonus and/ or Incentives, if eligible .
