      Company Description

      Hello, we're UW

We’re a bunch of great people working together, solving problems and having fun. Together, we strive to find solutions to help the great people around us get on with the things that really matter in life.

How? It’s simple, we take the headache out of essential home services by providing them all in one place – energy, broadband, mobile, and even insurance. That’s one provider, one account, one bill, and lots of savings.

We’re a truly unique FTSE 250 company with a business model that has real social impact at the heart of it. Being a part of the UW community you’ll join a working environment like no other - one where everyone matters - be it our customers, our partners or you, our people.

      About the role

Our Insurance business is growing quickly. From a standing start three years ago, we have since grown to over 100,000 policies. We are already in the top 50 personal lines brokers in the UK, and our plans are ambitious. We have both new products and new distribution channels on our near-term roadmap.

We're looking for a senior commercial leader to join us at this pivotal point to continue to develop our insurance product line. This is a broad role, working closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams. You will lead our commercial strategy for insurance, own the supply chain and key partnerships.

You'll have in-depth knowledge in personal lines insurance and you'll appreciate the roles which brokers, underwriters, insurers and claims handlers play developing ground-breaking products. This is a unique opportunity to be genuinely innovative and disrupt the insurance market, in a fast-growth, technology-led organisation.

      What you’ll do

Supported by our Partnerships Manager, you’ll be expected to develop and deliver against ambitious commercial objectives for the insurance product line.

Doing so will require you to provide direction, context, and subject-matter expertise for our cross-functional insurance teams across product, marketing, engineering, finance & operations to ensure cohesive delivery towards OKRs and strategic objectives.

In real terms, this means taking responsibility for the following:

      • Insurance Strategy- Drawing on market and industry knowledge to devise and implement a commercial strategy that balances profitability and growth and supports sustainable, high-quality customer outcomes.
      • Develop new products and distribution channels - Identify potential new channels, evaluate opportunities, routes to markets and models for potential new products. Work with teams across UW to test and establish them
      • Commercial optimisations- Identify opportunities for growth, cost-optimisation and profitability within our existing product suite. Drive commission and fee optimisation and use market data to develop dynamic pricing models
      • Partnership & Supplier Management- Own high level Insurer contracts and relationships. Support the Partnership Manager to manage relationships with current insurers to help ensure they meet their objectives and identify opportunities for improvement, as well as source new suppliers for our Home Insurance panel.
      • Product Governance & Oversight- Establish effective product governance practices and keep ahead of regulatory changes. Oversight of policy wording changes and PROD compliance, ensuring that Product Reviews and the Product Development Process result in great customer outcomes and are in line with Consumer Duty requirements
      • MI & Reporting- own all third-party MI and reporting, supported by the Data and compliance team

      About you

      • You'll be a proven commercial leader with a depth of knowledge in personal lines insurance, ideally with experience in a dynamic and disruptive, fast-growth business
      • Strong appreciation of the unit economics underlying our products, and the ability to understand how distribution, coverage, and positioning of insurance services affects performance
      • Strong experience of the Regulatory environment and knowledge of the compliance requirements
      • A commercial mindset is essential- you'll need to constantly drill into the commercial realities and work towards business objectives. You'll need to be able to understand our full multi-service proposition and how insurance fits into that business model.
      • Experience of leading a small team and a naturally collaborative style that brings teams together across functions
      • You'll be an innovator who brings a fresh perspective and isn't afraid of doing things differently.

      Our leadership beliefs

At UW, we believe leadership as much about how you show up as it is about your experience. We talk about leadership as three simple beliefs:

      • Really get to know your people, and let them get to know you
      • Be adaptable and trust people to deliver
      • Understand the context, set expectations and own results.

This role is available for Hybrid working - up to 2 days a week in one of our London offices. We've scoped the role as full-time however we always love to discuss flexible working options so don't hesitate to apply if you need to work a little differently.

      What’s in it for you

Join a high growth FTSE 250 business with the ambition to introduce 1 million additional customers to our offering. Help us achieve our ambitions whilst learning and having fun. Become part of a fantastic business culture where people really are at the heart of everything we do.

      • Competitive, benchmarked salary
      • A share in our success through a generous share options grant
      • Flexible approach to work - Hybrid working and access to hot desks around the UK
