JPMSE offers products and services across J.P. Morgan’s businesses, including its Corporate & Investment Bank, Commercial Bank and Private Bank. JPMSE is headquartered in Frankfurt, Germany and has a branch network across the European Economic Area, with significant branches in Dublin, Luxembourg and Paris. Additionally, JPMSE maintains a London branch to service the Private Banking business. JPMSE is among the five largest banking legal entities in Germany, and among the top 20 under direct ECB supervision in the EU, based on size of balance sheet. Its total capital base is around €34 billion.

You are a Managing Director level candidate with significant leadership credentials and preferably prior experience as a board member. You will be integral to helping shape and develop the Outsourcing, Operations and Technology strategies for JPMSE and will potentially serve as a JPMSE Management Board Member. As such, you will be accountable to JPMSE’s Supervisory Board, and also report to the Global Head of Operations for Securities Services.

You will cover Outsourcing and Technology across all lines of business and functions present in JPMSE, and Operations across the various lines of businesses operating in the bank. Additionally, you will work closely with other stakeholders as well as regional/global senior managers to ensure optimal efficiency and client satisfaction in conjunction with regulatory requirements.

Job Responsibilities

1. Strategy
   • Responsible for ensuring Global J.P. Morgan Chase strategies are appropriate for JPMSE and are incorporated into the Legal Entity Strategy approved by the Supervisory Board and aligned to the entity's Risk Management Framework
   • Manage Outsourcing, Operations and Technology strategic agendas to support all line of business and functions for JPMSE and support the build out of the JPMSE business strategy in Europe.
   • Develop and cascade a strategy model and mission statement for the JPMSE operations aligned and integrated with line of business Operations strategy
   • Manage performance measures in location (e.g. efficiency versus effectiveness, KPI dashboards)
2. Risk and Control
   • Maintain a strong control framework for JPMSE, operating within that framework to ensure successful delivery against regulatory requirements
   • Responsible for ensuring that Outsourcing, Operations and Technology have controls that are reasonably designed to ensure they are well controlled and compliant with internal policies and procedures, and external regulations
   • Promote high standards of conduct, exercise sound judgment, act with integrity, protect JPMSE, its clients and customers, within the JPMSE Risk Strategy, the J.P. Morgan Chase Code of Conduct, the JPMSE Conduct & Risk Culture Framework and other relevant control frameworks
3. Regulatory Relationship
   • Represent JPMSE Outsourcing, Operations and Technology in front of European regulators, drive and support regulatory exams over the Legal Entity
   • Maintain an open relationship with the regulators and oversee regulatory correspondence
4. Governance
   • Review and develop Governance and Oversight models fulfilling regulator’s expectations across JPMSE
   • Continue to strengthen sound business organisation with regards to governance and staffing ensuring that JPMSE has the ability to independently carry out its business activities as well as to risk manage positions according to its booking model across all lines of business and in line with the target operating model as outlined in the JPMSE Business Strategy
   • Oversee the authorisation, approval and control of outsourcing across all lines of business and functions
   • Oversee the management of local operations across all lines of business operating in JPMSE
   • Oversee outsourced operational teams supporting JPMSE
   • Own and execute JPMSE’s Outsourcing framework
   • Establish that the lines of business and functions have policies and procedures in place that are consistent with firm wide policies and procedures
   • Serve as senior contact for clients in case of escalation or consultancy and serve as member of local deal team for prospect clients
5. People and Culture
   • Drive the JPMSE Diversity, Equity and Inclusion agenda with a focus on retaining & developing diverse talent, and fostering an inclusive and supportive work environment with a strong commitment to integrity, fairness, and responsibility
   • Manage areas of remit in line with the J.P. Morgan Chase “HOW WE DO BUSINESS” principles and translate where possible into measurable objectives as outlined in the JPMSE Business Strategy.
   • Influence and collaborate with senior stakeholders to execute on team objectives
   • Maximise resources to create best efficiencies for the location and network, across all lines of businesses and functions
   • Deliver the firm’s culture and conduct standards in the entity lines of businesses and functions, including training and supervision of staff
   • Serve as Culture Champion across Outsourcing, Operations and Technology
   • Develop and implement budget, headcount control and premises efficiencies

Required Qualifications, Capabilities & Skills

• Experience in highly matrixed organisation, with an in depth knowledge of Operations and prior experience in Outsourcing and Technology
• Extensive knowledge and experience of the German and European banking industry
• If possible, have the necessary professional qualification required for a Management Board member of a German bank, to include managing large teams and experience with credit approvals and risk management
• Proven experience in driving results in a highly regulated environment, and handling exposure to regulatory bodies
• Proven track record of effective leadership and ability to manage and effectively implement constant change across multiple locations
• Strong ability to build relationships with and influence colleagues, business leaders and functional partners
• Confident communicator with ability to provide clear and succinct verbal and written updates
• Ability to drive issue resolution, collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to execute consistently on deliverables and communicate status updates and strategic direction to community
• Highly motivated with advanced strategy, problem solving, and transformation as well as strong influencing, interpersonal and communication skills
