      The Head of Product is responsible for the creation and management of innovative protection, accumulation, distribution and retirement solutions for MassMutual’s retail, worksite, and institutional customers.

      • Industry/Product competitive Intelligence - deep understanding of industry trends, competitive landscape, and distribution channels to set strategic direction of product portfolio.

      • Design - the creation of products and solutions that meet the needs of our customers, are aligned to our distribution channels, and deliver enterprise value for MassMutual.

      • Pricing - pricing and implementation of new/existing products striking the right balance between competitiveness, risk management, and targeted profitability.

      • Management - ongoing portfolio management of open and closed blocks of business in partnership with our Corporate Actuarial team.

      Reporting directly to the Head of MassMutual’s Brand, Product, and Affiliated Distribution organization and serving as a member of the senior leadership team, the role requires effective collaboration and partnership with Distribution Channel Leaders, Finance, Corporate Actuarial, Enterprise Technology, Legal/Compliance, Executive Leadership, and other key partners to build and deliver innovative and competitive products to meet the needs of MassMutual and our policyholders.

      • Provide tools and capabilities to our distribution partners/advisors that are aligned with their business models making MassMutual easy to work with and enabling them deliver value to their clients.

      • Improve efficiency and effectiveness of our product manufacturing capabilities enabling MassMutual to increase speed and reduce cost to market.

      • Fully understand the needs of our stakeholders, market dynamics, competitive landscape, and technical information necessary to deliver a well-diversified and competitive product portfolio.

      • Ensure full engagement of key stakeholders via ongoing communication and partnership. Activities may include: internal/external presentations, periodic reviews/updates to Executive Leadership, Product Advisory Council and Board of Directors, attendance/report outs at corporate partner business review meetings.

      ROLE REQUIREMENTS

      • Bachelor’s Degree required.

      • At least 15 years in the Financial Services industry, with at least 8 + years leading teams of expanding complexity and scope.

      • Experience working in a complex business environment.

      • Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.

      PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

      • Proven leadership skills with the ability to influence internal/external stakeholders and effectively lead organizational change.

      • A strategic yet execution-oriented, proactive, creative, and innovative thinker.

      • Experience and understanding of retail/worksite/retirement product landscape and channels of distribution.

      • Demonstrated success of driving revenue, maximizing company profits while appropriately managing risk.

      • Ability to work well cross functionally to build alignment and reach common goals.

      • Strong interpersonal capabilities: ability to develop strong trust-based relationships and lead effectively; ability to build and motivate high-functioning teams.

      • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment

      • Bachelor's degree required; Master’s preferred.

      • Actuarial designation preferred.
