      Head of Governance & Clinical Quality

      Cromwell Hospital, South Kensington, SW5 0TU

      Hybrid role

      Fixed term Contract - 12 months

      Full time, 37.5 hours per week

      How you’ll help us make health happen:

      The Head of Governance and Clinical Quality, Cromwell Hospital will provide guidance, oversight and proactive recommendations regarding governance, risk & quality standards. The role will focus on Cromwell Hospital but will collaborate and knowledge share across BGUK MU.

      Provide leadership and raise awareness of Quality and Governance across Cromwell Hospital. The Quality & Governance team work collaboratively with the Clinical teams across Cromwell Hospital to ensure the quality of Clinical Care delivered is in accordance with CQC and Bupa standards along with recommending and overseeing implementation of changes in practice to improve the level of Clinical Care across Cromwell Hospital.

      Alongside the Cromwell Medical Director and Chief Nursing Officer to assist in driving sustainable excellence in safety and quality of care and services. Lead the Quality and Clinical Governance agenda for the hospital by monitoring achievements against required standards, identifying risks to quality of care and services along with planning and recommending changes for continuous improvement.

      It is an important feature of this role for there to be close collaboration with BGUK clinical/governance teams and management of complex/matrix structures relating to assurance and risk management.

      What you’ll do:

      • Assist the Cromwell Hospital Director, the Medical Director and Chief Nursing Officer in ensuring the statutory requirements of the CQC and other regulators are met across the hospital and that the hospital is compliant with all Bupa policies and standards.

      • Identify the implications of regulations, policies and strategies on current practice highlighting any changes required as a result of these ensuring they support consistency and joined up working.

      • Lead on the production of the reporting to BGUK MU Group risk and governance team that include ARCC, ICRMA and the knowledge of risk appetite and the management of risk and registers.

      • Attend the MU governance meetings

      • Coordinate the 2 LOD and 3LOD BUPA audits.

      • In conjunction with the Medical Director lead the Integrated Governance & Quality Committee ensuring the effective monitoring and evaluation of all clinical and non-clinical governance incidents and risks at the hospital.

      • In conjunction with the Medical Director and Chief Nursing Officer develop an annual audit plan for Cromwell Hospital conducting identified audits, producing reports of findings, highlighting areas of risk, making recommendations using quality improvement tools, and undertaking audit follow-ups as necessary ensuring changes are implemented and embedded in practice.

      Key skills/Qualifications needed for this role:

      • Completion of relevant training or education in healthcare Risk and/or clinical Governance Management or evidence of significant experience at senior level

      • Experienced professional with significant risk & governance experience at a senior level within a healthcare setting

      • Experience of working in a highly regulated environment with a solid understanding of CQC and other regulatory requirements

      • Experience of working within a complex working environment and able to evidence experience in both internal and external stakeholder engagement

      • Teaching/Assessing qualification (desirable)

      • Cross functional leadership skills

      • Comprehensive knowledge of patient safety systems and processes including clinical risk and safety

      • Ability to produce reports & provide credible input to staff and leaders at all levels

      • Ability to persuade and influence at all levels, creating a culture of trust, openness, cooperation, collaboration and teamwork.
