      Overview
      The Director, SEO role at LegalZoom is an essential business leader responsible for creating and implementing a comprehensive SEO strategy that meets the company's ambitious growth objectives. This individual sets the vision, coordinates efforts across the organization, and develops a team of SEO experts to establish a top-tier SEO operation for LegalZoom.

      You will
      • Craft a compelling vision and set ambitious goals for LZ's dynamic cross-functional SEO strategy, ensuring clarity and direction in our approach.
      • Design an actionable roadmap that brings this vision to life, partnering closely with marketing, tech, product, and PR teams to harmoniously execute our plans.
      • Discover innovative strategies to elevate our organic rankings, boost traffic, and drive revenue while fostering a deep trust with our customers under the LZ brand.
      • Oversee both on-site and off-site SEO initiatives to enhance site health, shape content development, and strategically promote our offerings, all aimed at increasing our domain authority.
      • Build a robust backlink operation seamlessly integrated into our content creation, promotional activities, and PR outreach, creating a powerful support network for our online presence.
      • Take ownership of organic health reporting for LZ, offering insightful analysis on traffic trends, in-depth keyword research, and thorough competitive assessments.
      • Oversee site and content audits to determine technical opportunities, develop comprehensive plans to resolve any identified issues, and enhance overall performance.
      • Share key findings, emerging industry trends, and best practices regularly with all levels of the organization, from dedicated team members to the executive team, ensuring everyone stays informed and engaged.
      • Recruit, nurture, and empower a talented team of four SEO experts, fostering their growth and development to keep our SEO initiatives at the forefront of the industry.
      • Occasional travel may be required as needed

      You have
      • 8+ years of experience in SEO, specializing in both technical and content-driven SEO strategies
      • Proven people management experience with a history of developing teams and individual talent
      • Passionate about the science and art of SEO.
      • Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to engage effectively with all organizational levels, including C-team members.
      • Intellectually curious and eager to learn and adapt alongside the business.
      • Demonstrated strategic strength, with a proven record of setting objectives and prioritizing activities to achieve goals.
      • Operationally strong, with successful delivery of high-complexity programs involving multiple stakeholders.
      • Bachelor's degree in Information Science, Math, Computer Science, MIS, Business, English, Journalism, Advertising, or Communications
      LegalZoom is a remote-first company and the national range for this role is $180,000 to $280,000. Actual compensation offered will depend on several factors including but not limited to: geographic location, work experience, education, skill level, and/or other business and organizational needs. In addition, an annual bonus, incentive bonus and/or restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package.
