      Position Overview
      The Head of Strategic Communications & Education in the Department of Technology Development & Industry Engagement will lead the strategic development and execution of initiatives to drive awareness and engagement of the commercialization & industry engagement activities. The role will collaborate closely with the Strategic Communications Department. This position will manage internal and external communication, branding, messaging, education programs, stakeholder engagement, and events. Additionally, it will establish and oversee key performance metrics, ensuring the department's initiatives and efforts directly support Mission objectives.

      This position may be eligible for the possibility of remote work.

      Job Responsibilities:

      • Align internal teams with the organization’s Mission and the department’s vision and values through comprehensive communication strategies.
      • Ensure cross-department collaboration, facilitating clear and consistent messaging internally for all communication and department initiatives.
      • Design and implement education programs to inform both internal teams and external partners about the department and its work consistent with the Mission.
      • Monitor the effectiveness of education initiatives, ensuring they support broader mission strategies, employing metrics.
      • Establish strong relationships with key influencers, industry leaders, and partners to enhance brand visibility.
      • Create and manage stakeholder engagement programs, ensuring influencers align with Mission, amplify the St. Jude brand, and managing key messaging.
      • Leverage stakeholder campaigns to reach new audiences and drive brand credibility internally and externally.
      • Develop and oversee the department's brand messaging across external channels, in alignment with and coordination with Mission Communications strategies.
      • Highly Coordinated and Collaborative relationship with Strategic Communications Department to shape the department’s identity and ensure consistent messaging across all channels, both formal and informal.
      • Act as a spokesperson for the department when necessary and maintain strong relationships with internal and external partners.
      • Develop and refine the department’s messaging to ensure consistency across all platforms and materials, as well supporting Mission.
      • Lead brand positioning efforts, ensuring alignment with market trends and upholding the Mission and values.
      • Oversee market research and competitive analysis to identify new opportunities and challenges.
      • Lead the planning and execution of department sponsored events.
      • Work with event partners and sponsors to maximize reach and effectiveness.
      • Collaborate with St. Jude’s Strategic Communications team on events whenever applicable.
      • Establish KPIs and success metrics for initiatives, ensuring alignment with overall Mission.
      • Collect, track, and analyze data from to measure performance and Mission impact.
      • Correlate metrics to outcomes, using data to optimize future activities and brand strategies.
      • Provide regular reports to the senior team on performance.

      Minimum Education and/or Training:

      • Bachelor’s degree required
      • MBA preferred.


      Minimum Experience:

      • 20+ years of experience in outbound marketing in the life sciences industry (e.g. biotech, pharma, medical devices, or diagnostics industries), with at least 10 years in a senior/executive role.
      • Proven experience in developing and executing brand strategy at an executive level in the life sciences industry.
      • Strong leadership, project management, and analytical skills.
      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
      • Ability to work cross-functionally and influence stakeholders at all levels.
