Head of Bayer Innovation Center Wageningen
As Head of Bayer Innovation Center Wageningen, you focus on building in- and external relationships to drive innovation through projects in which we combine emerging technologies with cutting-edge, real world scientific and engineering challenges. We are looking for an applicant who gets energized by connecting people and projects and by spotting the opportunities to do so. Next to making these projects happen, you will also have a role in guiding certain projects and participants.
In this role, you manage strategy, site- and stakeholder relationships to ensure positive and productive technical collaborations with the University and surrounding community. You are constantly on the lookout to obtain feedback from researchers and leaders at Bayer and the University to assess what is working well and what should change. You actively search for best practices in other innovation centers and how to continually improve the impact that our Innovation Center provides.

• Provide strategic direction, leadership and management for the Bayer Innovation Center site located at Wageningen.
• Establish, build and leverage relationships with leaders and researchers in Bayer, faculty leaders at the University and leaders in other companies in the Innovation Center and the community.
• Serve as champion and ambassador for Bayer, the Innovation Center and the evolving agriculture industry to broad academic, industrial, governmental and community stakeholders.
• Develop and implement a collaborative, entrepreneurial and solution-based operating framework for the center to establish the projects and connections between Bayer researchers, faculty and student intern teams.
• Identify and assess opportunities to accelerate Bayer’s growth in emerging technologies and capabilities including engineering, data science, advanced analytics, operations research, phenomics, genomics, plant science, advanced breeding technologies, consumer trends and sustainability.
• Guide and support undergraduate and graduate level student interns and provide advocacy and connection between interns and project mentors, while building a diverse talent pool for Bayer.
• Partner with R&D, Product Supply, Market Development, Intellectual Property and Finance teams to evaluate new technologies and project plans to assess feasibility, potential risk and return.
• Develop processes, systems and metrics to manage the portfolio of innovation center projects, ensure goals, timelines and expectations are clear, communicate status to internal and external stakeholders and manage change.
WHO YOU ARE
• PhD with 3+ yrs. of professional and/or post doc. experience in a science, engineering, technology discipline or equivalent.
• 5+ years of related experience in a technology-based business application.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and deploy new technical capabilities, develop people and teams and lead through influence.
• Proven record of innovation and applying emerging technologies to provide real world solutions.
• Exemplary communication, storytelling and collaboration skills across a range of public and private stakeholders, from researchers to company executives.
• Highly driven, organized, and with great agility to manage projects across multiple technologies and disciplines.
• Demonstrated ability to lead in ambiguous situations with minimal direction.
