Job summary
Are you an experienced strategic leader with a passion for education, learning, and workforce development? Do you have experience in leading high-performing, multi-disciplinary, high-volume learning delivery teams?
Do you want to play a key role in providing outstanding learning opportunities to enable excellent patient care? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to lead our Yorkshire Ambulance Service, YAS Academy.
As Head of YAS Academy, you will be responsible for the strategic leadership, development, and management of education, learning and continuing professional development across Yorkshire Ambulance Service. You will oversee all aspects of training delivery, whether directly through YAS Academy, across multiple sites, or in partnership with higher education institutes and external training providers.
This role is central to ensuring that YAS staff receive high-quality education and development opportunities, fostering a culture of learning that enables operational competence, with a focus on providing outstanding patient care. You will work with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, ensuring compliance with regulatory, professional and apprenticeship standards whilst driving innovation in learning delivery.
Main duties of the job
As a senior leader within the Trust, you will play a crucial role in workforce development and cultural change, ensuring that YAS Academy is recognised nationally for developing a workforce equipped for a wider NHS and modern Ambulance service.

Oversee the delivery of high-volume, multi-site education and workforce development programmes. Ensure the delivery of high-quality, innovative learning solutions, including apprenticeships, statutory and mandatory learning and CPD opportunities. Build strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, including higher education institutions and training providers. Foster an inclusive learning culture that supports engagement and development, where learning is accessible, engaging and relevant. Drive the adoption of digital learning technologies to enhance learner engagement and experience. Lead and develop a multidisciplinary team of approximately 110 staff, promoting high performance, professional growth, collaboration and continuous improvement. Manage a £10 million budget effectively, ensuring cost-efficient use of resources and maximising funding opportunities. Establish robust governance, quality assurance, and reporting processes adopting a data-informed approach to demonstrate the impact of learning on operational performance and patient care.
