- Six weeks (30 days) of paid annual leave per year + additional paid Christmas stand down

- Provide assistance and support to the Band 7 T/L Health & Fitness
- Operating as part of a multi-disciplinary team, support and assist in the delivery of services within the SHIELD Hubs (as required)
- You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application.
- A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
- Certificate IV in Fitness (minimum requirement)
- A minimum of three years (contemporary) practical knowledge and expertise in group and individual instruction in the fitness environment
- Current First Aid Certificate and CPR qualification
- Current industry registration with Exercise & Sports Science Australia (ESSA), AUSactive or FitRec
- Current valid Australian driver’s licence.
- Ability to quickly establish effective rapport and tailor communication to audience.
- Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team in a large organisational setting.
- Demonstrated high level emotional intelligence.
- Flexibility to work varied shifts, including outside core work hours.
- Maintain currency in subject matter expertise through ongoing professional development and learning opportunities outside the formal education process.
- Roles are based in Canberra, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane and Sydney, with some requirements to travel to assist other business areas and commands as required.
- Due to the nature of this role, being a forward facing one delivering Health and Fitness training sessions and assessment activities to AFP members, these roles are unable to be undertaken remotely and opportunities to work from home are limited.

What is the role?
Applications are sought from suitably qualified applicants wishing to be considered for the role of a Health & Fitness Advisor, SHIELD.
SHIELD provides health and wellbeing services to AFP members. You will be working within a team of experienced and passionate Health & Fitness Advisors, Exercise Physiologists, Physiotherapists, Health and Safety Advisors and Case Managers, where you can use your skills and knowledge to enable improved health and wellbeing of your colleagues.
The Health & Fitness Advisor role focuses on providing direct support in the development and delivery of the AFP’s primary and remedial health and fitness programs and helping empower AFP members to take a proactive approach to managing their health and fitness, with a focus on education and preventative programs.
AFP Health and Fitness Advisors are responsible for the assessment of AFP employee’s base-line level of physical fitness in accordance with AFP policies and procedures. The role also provides gymnasium floor supervision, instruction and the development of tailored exercise programs as well as group exercise instruction in accordance with approved practices and procedures. The role focus is divided between client delivery and administrative, however, it should be noted that this balance will vary from time to time dependent upon AFP business requirements. This role is a varied and interesting one with regular opportunities for professional development and ongoing learning.
Health and Fitness Advisors are required to contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments.
