      Job Summary

      As part of the Health & Safety team, the Health & Safety Technician will provide first aid and emergency care, perform plant inspections, audits, safety checks when assigned, and schedule and deliver safety training, certifying workers in First Aid, CPR, and AED protocols. Additionally, this role compiles and enters data (e.g. workers compensation, safety, purchase orders, etc.) and assists with accident investigations when needed.

      Job Responsibilities

      • Administer first aid and emergency care per developed protocols contacting emergency services when circumstances require
      • Administer drug and alcohol screening tests following internal protocols to ensure chain of custody is followed
      • Gather and enter required data for workers compensation, OSHA and Company medical databases, communicating with external medical, legal, and insurance personnel to clarify information as needed
      • Schedule and deliver safety training and evaluations, assisting in mentoring, coaching and training for various internal personnel (e.g. Safety Committee, Processing leads, etc.) to ensure internal processes and procedures are understood and followed in support of the Company’s zero accident culture
      • Conduct authorized training to certify associates in First Aid, CPR, and AED protocols
      • Lead WorkSafe team communicating new protocols, safety reminders, etc. and coach as necessary when opportunities for improvement are present
      • Conduct plant inspections, audits and safety checks, and ergonomic assessments as assigned
      • Assist with the annual review of safety process and procedures
      • Enter supply purchase requests when needed
      • Perform other related duties as directed

      Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

      • Ability to determine appropriate first aid required and determine if additional emergency services are required
      • Knowledge and understanding of applicable OSHA standards and workers compensation administration requirements
      • Strong computer skills, with the knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and ability to learn and understand internal software
      • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing with other employees and external agencies; bi/ multi-lingual highly preferred.
      • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment using excellent organizational skills and precise attention to detail.
      • Must possess a strong customer-centric attitude, high energy level and a strong sense of urgency
      • Ability to organize and prioritize work in a dynamic and complex environment to meet deadlines and daily requirements.
      • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and maintain a productive and committed work effort, meeting deadlines and managing workload.

      Education

      The position requires a High School Diploma/ Equivalent and CPR and First Aid certifications plus an EMT license.

      Experience

      The position requires a minimum of two (2) year of applicable health and or safety experience.

      WORK ENVIRONMENT

      Plant environment

      While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to risk of injury in a manufacturing environment. Duties include both an office setting including extensive computer work, sitting or standing and a manufacturing setting requiring bending, kneeling, standing. Ability to work non-standard shifts (holidays, weekend and/or extended) when needed. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
