      Job summary

      We are recruiting for 2 experienced Health Care Assistants to assist the GPs and nursing team in the service and delivery of health care of the Practices population.

      The post holder must hold Level 3 qualification in Health Care and have previous NHS Health Care Assistant experience working within a HCA role either in a GP Surgery Primary Care or in the community.

      We have 2 vacancies, 1 x Full Time and 1 x Part Time

      Main duties of the job

      The post holder will work under the supervision of the nursing team and undertake tasks/duties delegated appropriately including annual health checks, phlebotomy, removal of stiches, administering injections and carrying out ECG's . The post holder will work collaboratively with the general Practice team to meet patients needs.

      Job description

      Job responsibilities

      • Undertake, record, and follow guidelines for the tasks for which you have received appropriate training.
      • Urinalysis and preparation of specimens for investigation by the pathology laboratory
      • Phlebotomy
      • Prepare and maintain environment and equipment before and after patient care interventions, including assisting GPs during the performance of minor operations
      • Assists in raising awareness of health and wellbeing and health promotions
      • Monitoring and recording of blood pressure
      • Measuring and recording physiological measurements in routine presentations: pulse rate and rhythm, height, weight, body mass, blood pressure.
      • Carrying out ECGs and reporting back to the GP
      • Carrying out Registration Health Checks
      • Giving dietary and lifestyle advice in accordance with written protocols / include weight management clinic
      • Chaperoning duties
      • Other clinical duties identified by the Practice Nurse or Doctor in accordance with written protocols
      • Appropriate dressing changes
      • Safely administer injections under PSD
      • Undertake diabetic reviews and foot checks
      • Disposal of water materials, management of clinical equipment, reporting of sharps injuries and dealing with bodily/fluid spillages
      • Reporting potential risks identified
      • Assisting with stock control within clinic rooms
      • Removal of stitches and clips
