Job summary
We have an opportunity for an enthusiastic Healthcare Assistant (HCA) to join our nursing team. We are a happy, established clinical team that is looking for the right Health Care Assistant to join us; someone who is compassionate and has a desire to help patients on a day-to-day basis.
We are looking for an NVQ 3 qualified (or equivalent) Healthcare Assistant to join our team. Previous experience with SystmOne in a GP Practice is desirable. We are offering a salary depending on experience and NHS pension. This is a part time position, hours to be approximately 16 hours per week. You will receive training and support to develop your professional career with us.
We require an experienced HCA who is able to perform all the usual routine tasks and functions of this role. You will be working as part of a multi-disciplinary clinical team delivering safe, high quality care.
General Practice experience is desirable but not essential as training will be given. We are looking for someone who is organised, self-motivated, a good communicator and adaptable.

Main duties of the job
The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude and excellent communication skills. They will work alongside our team of experienced nurses.
Duties and responsibilities in your own clinics will include, but not be limited to;
Undertake new patient health checks
Support the Practice Nurse with health promotion programmes
Carry out baseline observations such as pulse oximetry, blood pressure, temperature and pulse rate, recording findings accurately
Facilitate routine and 24-hour BP monitoring, advising patients accordingly

Ensure all clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared
Monitor fridges on a daily basis
Ensure clinical waste is removed from clinical areas and sharps bins replaced in accordance with the organisations IPC policy
Deliver opportunistic health promotion where appropriate
Participate in practice audit as directed
Participate in local initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient care

About us
We are a small friendly GP Practice with around 5300 patients. Our clinical team includes 3 GP Partners, an Advanced Nurse Practitioner and a team of Nurses and Health Care Assistants. We teach Medical Students and are in the process of becoming a training Practice for GP Registrars.
