If so, we would really like to hear from you with a view to joining our friendly and highly skilled multidisciplinary team. Nant Dowlais Health Centre is a new GP practice serving a 10,000 patient list in West Cwmbran. Led by a new, multidisciplinary partnership, we are seeking a Health Care Assistant with excellent clinical knowledge and experience to be a key member of our team, and also work alongside our senior clincial team to support them.
This is an exciting time to join Nant Dowlais as we strive to develop our service using quality improvement methodology. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic and self-motivated with a positive approach to lead on agreed clinical areas according to competencies.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will work as part of a team that provides health care services to the patients of Nant Dowlais Health Centre focusing on the direct needs of service users undergoing healthcare treatment.
The post holder is expected to work within clinical competencies with supporting base knowledge.
They will have completed a learning package at NVQ/QCF/CQFW level 3. They are expected to work within defined protocols, adhering to the Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers in Wales under the direction, and close supervision of and reporting to a registered nurse.

Key Responsibilities
To assist the Healthcare Team in the clinical assessment and management of patients presenting for healthcare needs within the practice.
To undertake initial screening of new patients presenting at the practice under the indirect supervision of a registered nurse.
Undertake health screening, testing and clinical observations as required.
To report back all outcomes to the registered nurse.
Using agreed protocols, be able to recognise normal range parameters of clinical testing and report to registered nurse when results are out of range.
Carry out direct care duties under the delegation of a registered nurse e.g. phlebotomy, observations, sample testing, spirometry, wound dressings.
To rotate as necessary between the sites
To establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external agencies, interacting with patients and all colleagues in a professional manner.
To implement care as planned and directed by the Registered Nurse, reporting any changes in the patients condition in a timely manner.
To maintain written records of care in accordance with practice policy/ Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers in Wales.
To maintain IT systems, including inputting and extracting information.
To promote health, prevent illness and encourage self-care as appropriate/applicable taking account of the patients choice and preference.
To act as chaperone during clinical sessions with the Healthcare Team and professionals as required, adhering to the relevant guidelines/policy in relation to chaperoning
