      Job summary

      The Work offers a wide range of duties to assist the diverse clinical team in this modern and forward-thinking Surgery with over 13,000 patients.

      The surgery is seeking an additional Health Care Assistant to join our nursing team and to cover Wednesday, Thursday, Friday each week. 8 hours per day, total 24 hours per week.

      Main duties of the job

      Duties include ECGs, dressings, vaccinations, assistance with Minor Surgery and some phlebotomy cover. You will need common sense, initiative, enthusiasm and a flexible approach to work. The ability to work both independently and as part of a team is essential, remaining calm and friendly while working quickly and accurately under pressure, with a professional approach.

      Job description

      Job responsibilities

      Clinical Duties and Responsibilities:

      Conducting QOF reviews using Ardens templates and lifestyle issues addressed

      24hr Blood Pressure Monitors Fitting, Removal and Referrals

      Blood pressure checks

      Pulse and temperature checks

      Urinalysis

      Some phlebotomy

      Provision of lifestyle advice to patients and making appropriate referrals within the practice.

      Weight management

      ECG recording

      Smoking advice

      Health checks

      First dressings

      Follow up dressings

      Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and recording

      Chaperoning duties

      Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by GPs/Nurses

      Liaising with the Cleaning Company regarding stock and ordering when required

      Ensuring sharps bins & other clinical waste collection runs smoothly

      Surgical equipment and vaccine re-stocking and stock rotation

      Clearing, re-stocking & maintenance of consulting rooms

      Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions including assisting GPs during the performance of minor operations and ANP with coil/implant fitting and removals.

      Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients health and well-being

      Helping to raise awareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted

      Assisting with the collection and collation of data on needs related to health and well-being

      INR Clinic management, weekly audits for overdue patients etc, Adding new patients to the system and liaising with the GPs

      Administrative & Professional responsibilities

      Participate in the administrative & professional responsibilities of the practice team.

      Ensure accurate & legible notes of all consultations and treatments are recorded in patient notes.

      Ensure the electronic clinical record systems are kept up to date with accurate details recorded.

      Ensure appropriate items of service claims are made accurately, reporting any problems to the Lead Nurse.

      Ensure accurate completion of all necessary documentation relating to patient registration with the practice.

      Attend & participate in practice meetings as required.

      Assist in seasonal & special projects as required eg flu campaign

      Order and display health promotion materials, including working with Practice Manager and Patient Participation Group.

      Ensure total familiarity with all appointment systems including regular & incidental variations.

      Book appointments & recalls, ensuring sufficient information is recorded to enable retrieval of medical records.

      Any other delegated duties considered appropriate to the post.
