      What You'll Do:

      • Performs desk reviews and plans of correction approval
      • Conducts informal dispute resolutions, administrative reviews and reviews all survey documentation
      • Prepares the federal certification and transmittal form and finalizes processing Medicare certification data using the federal electronic data systems software
      • Acts as preceptor for newer surveyors for assigned discipline and/or assists in training as assigned
      • Uploads certification kits and process surveys, compile, document and record data and prepare reports
      • Researches special problems, evaluates data and recommends corrective action to supervisor as assigned
      • Participates in hearing preparations and hearings as member of survey team and/or testifies as expert witness in legal proceedings
      • Attends in-service training and conferences as assigned. Prepares and delivers speeches to community groups, providers, consumers and other agencies as directed
      • Participates in meetings with national, state and local agencies, advisory groups and organizations in the development of standards, policies and procedures related to assigned discipline

      Certification, licensure, or registration commensurate with assigned discipline (i.e., registered nurse, or licensed dietitian, or licensed social worker, or registered sanitarian) AND 12 mos. exp. as Health Care Facilities Field Surveyor – Entry, 62581 AND successful completion of federal Surveyor Minimum Qualifications Test (SMQT) AND valid driver’s license.

Required licensure per 1199 contract language.

      Applications of those who meet the minimum qualifications will be further evaluated against the following criteria:

      • Bachelors or advanced degree in Nursing, Social Work, Dietetics, or Environmental Health
      • Experience conducting surveys/inspections of long term care and non-long term care facilities, (e.g., hospitals, nursing homes, ICF/IID, home health, ESRD, ambulatory surgical centers, rehabilitation agencies, hospice, etc.)
      • Has passed SMQT Surveyor Minimum Qualification Test
      • Experience working as licensed health care professional in a long term care or non-long term care facility (e.g., hospitals, nursing homes, ICF/IID, home health, ESRD, ambulatory surgical centers, rehabilitation agencies, hospice, etc.)
      • Experience and/or education in technical or report writing
      • Experience in preparing and presenting technical presentations
      • Experience working with computer software (e.g., Word, Excel, ACO, PowerPoint)
      • Experience in providing training and orientation to new employees or cross training to established employees
