      Job Summary

      The Health Equity Intern will have a unique opportunity to help inform, disseminate, and implement the health equity strategy across the enterprise. Projects will include efforts in categories such as health equity education, using data to identify and address health disparities (both in general and disease specific), and interventions to reduce disparities through real world application. Participants will gain experience interacting with community and Enterprise leaders and developing external partnerships. Policy considerations will also be explored. Our team strives to integrate best practice research in addressing health equity from a health plan perspective. Participants will be exposed to and may participate in program evaluation for multiple initiatives. Finally, success will be an increase in understanding how a health plan can simultaneously improve population health, address health equity, and positively impact business strategy.

      The Summer Internship Program at Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield is a key source for identifying, attracting and developing future talent within our company. We are seeking self-motivated candidates who possess a strong technical aptitude, keen analytical, problem-solving ability, excellent communication skills, and leadership skills.

      This program is a great way to gain a head start on your career by working on meaningful projects, learning valuable skills, connecting with employees and managers throughout the company, and potentially building a future career at the company. Through hands-on relevant work experience, the internship program will allow the student or graduate to learn the business of Arkansas Blue Cross.

      Interns will receive professional coaching and participate in team building exercises. Weekly leadership forums are required where the intern will participate in open discussions regarding the corporate business and culture

      Requirements

      EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
      Intern I
      1. Sophomore year in college (At least 30 credit hours but fewer than 60 credit hours).
      2. Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
      3. A minimum of 6.0 college credit hours in one of the requested disciplines.
      4. Intern must live in Arkansas during the internship program (Relocation expense will not be paid.)


      Intern II
      1. Junior year in college (At least 60 credit hours but fewer than 90 credit hours).
      2. Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
      3. A minimum of 12.0 college credit hours in one of the requested disciplines.
      4. Intern must live in Arkansas during the internship program (Relocation expense will not be paid.)

      Intern III
      1. Senior year in college (At least 90 credit hours).
      2. Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
      3. A minimum of 18.0 college credit hours in one of the requested disciplines.
      4. Intern must live in Arkansas during the internship program (Relocation expense will not be paid.)

      Intern IV
      1. Bachelor’s degree in requested discipline or a related degree if applicable
      2. Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
      3. Intern must live in Arkansas during the internship program (Relocation expense will not be paid.)
