E SSENTIAL D UTIES AND R ESPONSIBILITIES :

S UPERVISORY R ESPONSIBILITIES :
• Effectively administers performance management system including: - developmental feedback - goal setting - assesses competency - progressive discipline • Strong knowledge of and effective in administering hospital policies and procedures. • Knowledgeable in ICD-9-CM and CPT coding classification systems. • Responsible for overseeing the release of information processes to ensure HIPAA compliance. • Acts as the Custodian of Medical Records. • Oversees the prepping and scanning of medical records by HIM staff. • Periodically reviews quality of scans performed by non-HIM staff to ensure scanning • Responsible for merging of patient duplicates. • Responsible for evaluating H.I.M. Operations as it relates to providing records for patients seen in satellite clinics. • Responsible for sound management of human resources. • Makes and implements decisions compatible with organizational goals. • Maintains composure, effectiveness, and flexibility under pressure. • Supervises the following job classes: Health Information Management Technicians. • Responsible for overseeing the job performances of the employees to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures. • Ensures that job performed is in conjunction with standards from Joint Commission, Medicare and Medicaid. Works with Department Director on special projects, as needed.
E DUCATION AND / OR E XPERIENCE :
Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. OR X Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous supervisory experience in an acute care health setting, preferably in Health Information Management and in a pediatric hospital setting.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations.
Certificate from American Health Information Management Association as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) is required.
Epic experience preferred in the areas of Release of Information and Deficiency Tracking.
