Job Description

Process and manage requests for the Release of Information in compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory standards.
Scan and index outside imaging and documentation into the electronic medical record (EMR).
Analyze medical records for completeness, accuracy, legibility, authentication, and compliance with federal, state, and TJC standards.
Collaborate effectively with physicians, clinical departments, and ancillary staff to support documentation integrity.
Maintain confidentiality and security of patient health information at all times.
Associate degree in Health Information Management preferred.
Active membership in AHIMA or equivalent professional organization preferred.
Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in a medical records department, with exposure to various HIM functions.
Strong knowledge of HIPAA, federal and state regulations, and TJC standards related to medical records.
Proficient in MS Office (especially Excel), OnBase, and Sunrise Clinical Manager (SCM) or similar EMR systems.
Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and critical thinking abilities.
